Trending on Twitter right now and thought we could have some fun with it... What does everyone think? DTLW
I'll get the ball rolling with this:
Ha, seen that before. Cringeworthy. That is terrible and it's a shame they're now doing "Luuuuuke". Oh yes, Scott Kieran of YouTube (sort of) fame.
Does that count as a chant? I would suggest not. And it is done by supporters of different sports all around the world so I don't think it's going anywhere soon.
"He scores when he wants" and all the variations. Apart from perhaps Robin Van Persie, I'm not sure anybody else in the premier league really score whenever they want! "Newcastle-United, Will never be defeated"... Well done Sherlock, we're clearly unbeatable, languishing where we are in the table
Oh that reminds me: "He ****s when he wants, Jason Puncheon he ****s when he wants" is one of the most stupid chants I have ever heard and Puncheon's celebration against City was ridiculous.
The second one I quite like actually, it's a variation on "The people united, will never be defeated" which is sung at just about every left-wing rally ever, internationally. You could say that that's not exactly accurate either, but it's a nice idea! The "scores when he wants" is one of a number of Sloop John B ones, that song is kind of overused...
One chant I did find funny was at Charlton when we were in league 1. A message came over the PA system asking for the Saints fans to sit down and we chanted: "We do what we want, we do what we want, we are Southampton, we do what we want".
Maybe this question should be turned around to "Best chants" since it seems 99% of the qualify for the "worst chants" category. He ****s when he wants for example, I think is quite amusing, at least the first time you hear it. Scotland fans singing "deep fry your pizzas, we're gonna deep fry your pizzas" when they played Italy was pretty good. I heard one recently that made me laugh but I can't remember what it was, which is odd as those ones are so rare.
