All the speculation on what will happened for individual games is pointless because the simple facts point to inevitable relegation if we don't get 6 points from our next 2 matches. If my prognosis actually happens then getting out of the bottom will be virtually impossible when you consider that we would then have to win 3 games in a row and hope that all the other teams lose all their 3 games at the same time. It isn't going to happen under any circumstance and I will only temper my concerns if we get 3 points tomorrow night and follow up with another 3 points on Saturday. Nothing about our team gives me any confidence that we can achieve anything close to that target.
Wiz, I think your predictions are too modest. A win against Burnley followed by win v Bolton would for example give us 5 more points and historically 53 points is safe. Last season a 1-0 away win at Forest which no-one foresaw,acted as a launching pad to secure safety We are now in a new regime and mindset under SOD and who would have thought that v Ipswich, Forest and Watford we would have got 9 points. Believe....we will survive

RR, we won't get a bean against Palace - not a hope in hell but that isn't so vital.... The crucial game is Saturday. Barnsley are flying the moment however when teams are on that sort of run, just one little thing, a disallowed goal, a controversial decision or a sending off or something can de-rail it completely and they fall apart (we hope)...
I think the games that will decide our fate either way are the 5 fixtures immediately after Palarse tonight. If we fail to get less than 8 points from those 5 fixtures then it will be game over, and even if we exceed our target it may still depend on other results. Our fate is still totally in our own hands which is the most important fact of all, and should we get anything at all tonight, it might prove to be a springboard if we can carrry the momentum onwards.
That's the hammer Mike, if we don't win tonight let's pack our bags and forget about the other 13 games. We thought we were down last year we ended up with a team between us and relegation places. It happens let's not say we need a minimum 6 points or its all over. **** me we could infact lose the next 4 games and then go on a 10 match winning streak. You never know its football no one expected us to go on a 8 match run last season without defeat! And that was with what a lot of you said a useless manager. Funny that as most on here bar Onefor (he did stick to his assumption) was saying he was the next messiah.
I believe that, despite our present position, there are so many teams in relatively close proximity that relegation (maybe all 3 places) will only be decided on the final day of the season. We simply have to keep grinding out results wherever we can. I am a positive person and think that we will stay up - but only just!
Throughout my life, I've been nearer to a pessimist than an optimist; I would dearly like to think we can get out of the mess, but even as a DMc supporter, I realised last November/December that this is a season where we are taking one step forward and three steps back. So I, with great sadness, believe that we are destined for the drop and if past history is anything to go by, we'll be down there for several years as City do not do immediate promotions after relegation! My best scenario now is that we stabilise in League One because if we don't, it's too awful to think about. Sorry to be so gloomy; If we got a couple of decent centre backs on loan this week, I might be persuaded to keep hoping for the best.
I think we will have a much better idea of how we stand about 10pm tonight after we see out result compared to others I also think the games against Burnley and Bolton are winable but as always BCFC have to do things the hard way.
Suddenly this division has opened up, a month ago the only team keeping us off the bottom was Sheffield Wed, and look where they are now. Wolves and Brum have really hit skid row and there is usually a team that free falls from upon high to join the relegation battle. With the fence pole tightly clenched in my butt cheeks I really think we have a 50/50 chance, we are certainly not 'too good' to go down, the truth is they have to believe and keep plugging away and remember that if the top sides beat us then so what, the key games are against those that are in that little group of teams 4-8 points ahead of us, those are the games to focus the effort.
I'm afraid its relegation for me, when we couldn't get in, for whatever reason, the quality centre backs we so desperatly needed, the signs were all to obvious. When the oldest player at the club is our best central defender, we know we are in trouble, and now what are we left with, Fontaine & Nyatanga as our defensive pairing, and we all know they are not good enough. So unless, like Cidered said, we get a couple of defenders in, sorry i see no hope, lets hope i'm wrong, and SoD does what DM did. COYR.
