My earlier post was along the lines of, "I'm not bothered either way", but I'm starting to think more along the lines of not developing this 2 section system. Albeit, I am in favour of OT stuff, I like the volume and variety of threads. I like the way a well used thread can be at the bottom of the page in a hour or so at busy times. I think it might all go a bit quiet if separated. With regard to OT threads, I just think if those 2 letters are in the title, that should be enough to guide away those who don't want to read. Indeed, the title of the thread is usually enough. To be honest, I just don't get it. If you're reading a thread and 2 people start having a row, let them get on with it, no problem. If it offends you, speak up. The same rules that apply in real life. Whatever happens, I'm cool. I'll go with the majority, but I can't help thinking there's a bit of change for change's sake going on. Do the things that are being complained about really bother you? I can understand the issue with boobsanbeaver and young eyes, but beyond that, seems a bit unnecessary. But then again, I'm a stickler for continuity.
You get my drift though Andy, it's kind of tongue in cheek humour which ain't nasty but we can all take the piss out of each other without any softies intervening Ps swords, you have gone up in my opinion today, after reading some of your posts the last couple of days, hug ? jog on !!!
First, thanks Brix to the comprehensive responses to the posts on the original thread. I am completely happy with what you have written there. Second, I have not read through this thread entirely, but seems to me to be a debate about whether we need a separate 'over 18s' section for us to post off topic stuff of a dodgy/offensive nature. Answer, obviously not as we already have one called General Chat. I don't see why anyone would need to restrict their audience for soft/hard porn, wind ups, trolling etc to QPR fans only. I have no idea why we would need to create a little brother of general chat for QPR fans only. Off topic in general I really like, such as the outstanding Shoes Thread, and see no reason why we would restrict this to another section. As has been said the thread title or inclusion of OT in it should be enough to signal Rs related football threads only posters not to bother with it. Apologies for brevity.
I totally agree with Woody. Threads live and die by their content and I think we can all decide which ones we enjoy or not. Personal feuds can be enjoyable for the observers, but when they extend over an extended period and across threads that can become irritating. But the Mods are doing a good job, and I don't really see a need to change.
Reference to Woody, interesting to see your thoughts developing. That IS the whole point of this stage. Think and think again until it hurts! I see where you're coming from mate but the problem is, there's a small number of posters who keep taking offence at everything, calling for threads to be closed and calling for people to be banned. To be fair there's also a small number of posters (myself included) that continually push debates and can end up hijacking and in some cases destroying, otherwise good, moderate threads. To deny there are two polar opposite groups on this Board would be akin to burying ones head in the sand Stan.
Get your point, but this is about self discipline /moderation. I reckon that amongst us we have the wit to see when a thread is being derailed and for someone (not necessarily Brix or Nuts) to step in and say - set up a separate thread with a clear title and continue on that, or in your case continue on the Swords vs Imaz thread, which will soon catch up with Word Association/Northolt Memorial thread as the most posted on in the universe.... Seriously, not sure that making it easier for people to post trash without thinking is good for any of us. But if we go down this route, fine, very easy for me to ignore. But it does not solve the 'over 18' question. Anybody can set up an account and look at stuff on here, we would be kidding ourselves that a separate section would not be accessed by kids. Indeed, Cerny would be its biggest patron.
But it's not purely the OT's that get hijacked, so where do you draw the line? Anyone is free to interject an argument with a calm response to the OP. Look at me with my OT's and my OP's, I'll be LOLing next!

Fair point there. You could be right you know. Maybe this proposal might end up messing up the whole Board. But I'm willing to give it a shot. I wouldn't necessarily call it trash but if it allows people blow off steam without upsetting or annoying anyone, maybe it could work? . No it wouldn't, you are quite right. Maybe we should just outlaw porn right off? At least kids wouldn't click in to find that stuff jumping out at them.
As an outsider I'm obviously just proposing this as an option. There is/was a user on our forum that produced a "Babe of the Day" thread. Rather than blocking it we have a "Page 3" rule in place. Effectively we're saying that content of that nature is fine so long as you don't see anything more than you'd see on page 3, and it has to be on a clearly identifiable thread (Babe of the Day you know what it's going to be), or if it's on another thread it has to be relevent and in nsfw tags (eg if you were talking about Simon Walton the thread could get onto the subject of who his girlfriend is/was). The result is if you want to see it then you can, if you want to avoid that content because you browse with your little kid sat on your knee then you can do that as well. If people are worried about older kids looking for adult material then it's soft core enough that they'll be googling other sites anyway (as should anybody that wants to come on here looking for harder than that). If you're worried about your kid looking at it accidentally because they don't know what it is then they probably shouldn't be using the internet unsupervised anyway.
I'll keep this brief, I dont see the great need to change from what we have now. What is the big problem? Who is so offended? This board is relatively interesting/entertining as it is. If people are offended, there are alternatives. Apologies if that offends anybody but I honestly think this is a lot of hot air about nothing.
I also see no need for wholesale change just crack down on the people who keep derailing threads my wife already moans that I am addicted to this forum what will she think if I then spend more time on sub forums and the sub sub forums that will come from that its not broke just needs a very fine tune
Read through this...worse than being at work....for me " as only one of two girls in the village"....what is the point of change. Go with ideas we have already formed, but added too by Ricardo....identify risky topics (Bikini thread) or off topics (OT). Admittedly "bikini" would attract any 12 year old boys like Cerny, we have on here....but to be honest, if that is what they are looking for there are millions of better places than not606 QPR to find that stuff.... a pm to Northolt would get you a list of sites. Stay the same as we are....ask people to give their threads representative names....fix the swear filter (know that is not in your toolbox Brix) and let us get on with self mod-ing. What ain't broken don't need fixing........and I think this is a very healthy board...shame about the team. (Mind you if why don't we all go abroad to Dubai for a week to get a bit of board bonding back...we can watch who has breakfast with whom, we can comment on all the Irish sitting at one table and how Swords eats alone in his....I can feel an OT thread coming on) excuse me a minute
For me, the more this debate goes on the more I think that the answer is really quite simple: SELF MODERATION. I still would like pornographic material to be put into an over 18 section, but if that's not possible then don't post it. The biggest issue, by far, for most people seems to be the hijacking of threads by posters (usually only 2 or 3 individuals). Maybe these people could try to not carry on their petty squabbles and concentrate on what this site is all about..................QPR. Don't purposely post stuff with the sole purpose of winding people up.....if you do, repeatedly, then you should be banned, for good, as you're clearly not using the board as the majority of users wish it to be used. Reading through this thread, it appears to me that some people would like OT threads every bit as much, or maybe even more than QPR ones. Well I'm not sure I agree with that. I like OT threads, but I think that, without the usual suspects' trolling, we have the balance just about right. If you don't want to talk about QPR and want to be controversial, we already have GC for you. Too much change could, in my opinion, ruin a board that is clearly one of the best used on not606.
