Yep, there was talk about us considering a 20 million bid in January. Looks like this interest is serious.

Only if we drop out of the top 4. No chance will we come in for a £20m or close to that player if we get top 4.

About time we brought back some of our recent legends back into the club. Having someone like Viera around can only inspire our youngsters.

Maybe he'd leave City for Arsenal?
I've said for ages I'd like to see some ex-players around.
Keown, Dixon & Bould with the Defense.
Vieira with the MF.
Pires with the Wingers.
Henry & Bergkamp with the Strikers.
Jens with the Keepers.

Bring back the guys who know the Arsenal system, and know each other, and let them mould the youngsters with their ability, enthusiasm, and the respect that their very presence commands.

We'd end up having more coaches than National Express <laugh>

7 Coaches with Bould in charge of them for 25 of the First Team Squad. They could also work with the Reserves & have ambassadorial roles. Ajax do it, and they do it very very well.

Arsenal have an amazing history, they should embrace the huge talent they still possess.

I'd prefer Bergkamp to Vieira for our youngsters, Bergkamp has some experience so far in actual coaching at a club like Ajax who are well known for their youth academy etc. Vieira on the other hand, doesn't have the coaching experience, he's basically been doing **** knows what for City.

Ex-greats remind the players of the standard that is expected of them.

on Thomas Vermaelen (ankle)...
He is looking quite good and is possibly back for Saturday. He should be in the squad.

0n Jack Wilshere...
He is having tests today [Thursday] and tomorrow. He is looking better. He is still a doubt for Saturday. He’s got a kick on the thigh.

on Laurent Koscielny (calf)...
That is a problem. He has a test today and tomorrow exactly like Wilshere.

on other team news...
Ramsey is alright. Sagna is alright. Jenkinson is suspended. Diaby is available again and all the other players are alright.

on Fabianski playing his first game of the season in midweek...
He came back in the week so we are not too bad on the injury front. We have two short-term problems, with Koscielny and Wilshere, while Gibbs is out. That is it.

===

I like that Wenger always says that Diaby is available, because he's injured so often he has to give constant reassurance!! Looks like there's a chance of Vermaelen & Kos both being back for the CL :)

TEAM NEWS: Koscielny, Vermaelen,
Wilshere face fitness tests. "Jack is
50:50, Vermaelen 90:10"

Wenger: 'The players who will not
start are the players who have played
many games recently'

Sounds like no Wilshere, Giroud, Theo...loads of players have played a lot!! Maybe...maybe...Squillaci!?

Wenger on Santos loan: 'He moved
because he lost a little bit of
confidence and he needs to play"

Wenger on Santos: 'Of course he can
have a future at Arsenal. That
depends as well on the ins and outs
during the summer"

Maybe he's going to sell Gibbs!?

Wenger on FA Cup: 'The basic target
is always the championship because
quality is measured over 38 games'

True, 4th is the minimum but I really hope he doesn't throw away the FA Cup.

Wenger on Villa: 'I am not on the
case. I like the player but at the
moment we have some immediate
targets"

Wenger on Wilshere: 'I will not take a
risk [with his fitness], with the rest of
the season in mind and what
happened before'

Wenger on Villa "I like the player but
at the moment he has kidney stones,
so we did well by swerving that one"

Looks like he was in for him!!

Apparently Wenger went a bit nuts at the Press Conference just now. Anybody see it or know what happened?

I'm on a Train escaping North Wales so I've not had chance to find it yet.
