This is try to get a idea where everybody likes to sit. The last 3 home games..... dagenham-rainham end. wycombe & northampton - sat in the medway stand. I like the rainham end for the noise, which i thought was quiet this week. The medway stand i like for the overall view of the pitch. Be great to make new friends on here and at gillingham,as i do go by myself.
I don't like the Gordan road stand due to lack of sound and there is too many people who like to sit down and shut up there. I sit in the Medway stand and Rainham end here and there. I go on my own a lot of the time but that is how I like it because I like to focus on the game and take it in, don't mean that I am a sad person who likes to be a loaner though by the way. I like sitting down the front on the Medway stand as that way I can go mad when goals go in and keep jumping up without worrying that I will jump too much and fall down the stands because I feel sitting anywhere but the front row restricts me from jumping up when we score.
passit69 - I am a season ticket holder in the Medway Stand, nearer to the Rainham End. I would love to be young again and join the Rainham End but age dictates certain things in life. I think certain areas, should be reserved for the more vocal support if that was ever possible. I am a supporter of 'safe standing' within such areas, to bring back that away game feeling. I like to focus on the game and as you have mentioned the overall view of the pitch suits my choice.
I understand where you are coming from,i am 43 now and do prefer the medway stand,i have sat just to the right of the dug out on the 2 occasions been there this year and gives a much better perspective of the game, and that has mad my blog which i started so much better to review on matches.
Oh Hoadie - you do know how to hurt. I struggled to be louder than the others around me in the GRS yesterday. I can safely say that I have made myself heard by ALL linesmen on the GRS side of the ground. One or two of the linos have even contemplated suicide after my 'encouragement' edit - I think one or two of the fans may have been similarly persuaded !
would love to sit back in the town end with all lads that made it a great atmosphere, always seemed to have more of an away game feel about it and i think getting some of the vocal support back at that end would help improve the noise levels and spur the team on to play like we know they can. As it is i'm exiled to the RE but always hopeful of a return
It does not matter what end you sit as long you support the club, whether that is with a lot of singing,or just with being there and appreciating when a move brings positive outcome. Too many people support a club they will probably never see because they are in the top league.
passit69 welcome to the forum. I was actually taking liberties with Hoadie. Although I did go to Barcelona a month ago - to watch a boring little man score 4 great goals - I have balanced that with 1300 miles inside the last 8 days to watch my first love. I've had hospital surgery ( no, not a vasectomy ) on the morning of a game - which I still attended. I will have to be screwed down in a wooden box before I consider stopping going to see Gills.
That's the reason why I don't like people supporting premiership teams, I think it is much better when people support their local team or the team in the town where they were born.
Have to pick games now with the expense and baby on the way, but always the rainham end for me when i go! Cant seem to drag myself in to another stand!
You could always sell the baby - should get enough to buy a season ticket Seriously though.... they don't get any cheaper as they get older !
Im like gfc1234, I can only go when I can afford it. It easier now that I can drive but the spare cash I did have has quickly gone due to the girlfriend. Im going to drag her along to Priestfield soon, though that may leave me single . I always sit in the Rainham though, I love to sing my heart out for the club and will try and get a season ticket in a couple of years as I would love to do it.
Well with the amount of money I spend each year on Gills ( about £2500 ), I think that babies might be cheaper
When I come to games at Priestfield I am always in the Medway Stand. Although I was in the Brian Moore Stand when AFC Wimbledon came last season. This season (for the game v. Dons in April) I am hoping to be in Upper Part of the Medway Stand as part of the Watch, Wine and Dine.
I am stingy with money I don't spend much on many people, probably the reason I don't have a girlfriend but then at least I have the money to myself, I might get a season ticket next season as I have only missed 2 games this season so I might as well get one.
Our daughter is due 26th April, the day before the last game at Burton! I would like to be at the last home game against AFC Wimbledon when we get the trophy for winning the league, but Im scared that if she arrives early I will miss the birth, so not intending on going anywhere throughout April.. Becoming a dad for the first time at 49 is something I am not going to miss!
If you have only missed two home games this season and IF you can afford it, an ST would certainly be the cheaper option. Don't forget if you miss games, you can give the ticket to people you trust.
