Further to stage 1 of our consultation as contained in the thread 'Mod Probs: Foot on the Ball Moment. Advice on Direction Needed', we now move into stage 2 - the Review.

First a quick reminder on what all the fuss is about. It's been noted that the nature of threads and posts have been changing in terms of content boundaries - and we as mods are asking you as users how you want us to deal with the shifting sands. No one is saying the board should stick to original standards if its time to move on but we mods need to take a pulse reading and be seen to move with the times.

Fact is we couldn't even think about moving up a level if what we all achieved on here hadn't worked out as well as it has. Of course there are ongoing criticisms from many quarters - but we have to remember we're an internet football forum, comprising all sorts of people with all sorts of interests beyond our common addiction to the fate of them Rs and temporarily appeased with as many wins as we can't get!

A number of you saw fit to pitch in on the Foot on the Ball thread with observations, suggestions and general comments - to which I have responded by editing your posts in blue writing beginning with BR - so there's no mistaking who said what (the original posts remain in black font).

Please now go back to that thread to review your comments and mine (the serious ones anyway!). Copy anything you take issue with on there and paste them on this thread together with anything further you wish to add etc..

To help you access your posts I've listed the page numbers and posters I responded to below.

The next stage will be to set out the various things we'd like to add to our up to the minute QPR magazine - and a list of users interested in the various categories. As I've said before, it will then be a matter of approaching site management if we find there's a need to extend our board to cater for certain OT interests.

Looking forward to your further contributions.

Cheers for now - and thanks to all for your help thus far.

That's a first (jokes)!

If all goes well, I think we can see an interesting new format coming out of this. We'll see how it goes though.

I'd just like to echo Staines comment. To personally reply to each of our comments shows the care you have for making this board the best it can be. I trust the decisions you make for the future will only continue to enhance it further, thanks again

I cant see anything that really needs changing on here brix
I personally like it the way it is
apart from the personal insults which probably should be cracked down on

unless it is insulting to Swansea in which case it should be encouraged

Thanks for taking such time and effort with this Brix, let me echo what the others have already said on this thread and say that you and Nuts do a fantastic job on here.

Personally I have complete faith that our mods are entirely reasonable, fair-minded people, and I implicitly trust that if they feel they need to lock a thread, or to issue a warning or a ban, that they must have good reason for it. Perhaps it’s naive, but that’s good enough for me.

To further stretch the simile between this place and a boozer, the mods are the landlords. As far as I’m concerned, it’s their gaff and therefore their rules. If you don’t like it find another boozer. Simples.

Good afternoon all.
While our board has evolved significantly in the last twelve months, two things have remained remarkably constant.
Firstly, the vast vast majority of you the members continue to come on here and make valuable contributions to our threads. Considering the unmeasurable diversity of this board, it is remarkable that so many people are prepared to abide by the house rules and show some level of respect to others. When you add the roller coaster ride our club has been on for the last number of years, EVERYBODY deserves a clap on the back for the patience and understanding shown. This board belongs to everybody. We all have an important role in keeping it vibrant and relevant.

Secondly, is Brix. There was nobody more surprised than me when he asked me to be his Co-Mod. Replacing the excellent Goldy was never going to be easy. I think everybody knows that Brix has the best interests of this board at heart. The amount of work he puts into keeping things ticking over is phenomenal and generally goes unnoticed in the background. He does not court the limelight and id bet he's wincing at reading my praise of him. I don't want this thread to descend into a backslapping exercise but I do want to acknowledge the tireless work he does on our behalf. As his young lieutenant my input in real terms is minimal. Brix however, deserves to be thanked for his light touch management and practical decision making.

There is no doubt that many of you here really enjoy OT threads and in many cases they can provide light entertainment particularly during difficult times(another defeat). I do see a place for them on our board but how they are moderated is the problem. Recent history would show that any thread on the isms usually ends up having to be closed. Religion in particular, is usually a topic that is too close to the bone. This board provides different things for different people. From in-depth QPR info and opinions to light hearted entertainment on OT topics. However, nobody comes on here to be verbally abused. If you give it though, you will get it back twofold and thus ruining that thread for the other neutral readers. This board is full of interesting and vibrant people. We are all drawn to it by our love of all things QPR. Continue to enjoy the site and make friends.

Nuts - you have it completely right.

Brix and you do an amazing job and the main thing that occurs to me when things descend into cat fights is that we're depriving ourselves of your participation in threads by spamming your time unnecessarily.

Keep up the good work though.

Back on topic, nothing to add although I detect some excitement in Brix's posts so am keen to see what develops.

I'd like to echo all the others on here in thanking Brix for his work on the original thread, and both mods for keeping the board going - better than the team this season! I've never been on the Swansea board, but I've seen enough of their comments on here to realise that success on the pitch doesn't necessarily make a happy internet forum. Food for thought, and all the more reason to appreciate what we have here.

Nothing new for me to add Brix other than to echo everyone's thanks for your tireless work on here (and nuts of course).
The only thing I'd like to add is that I wouldn't want everyone to think that I'm some over-zealous prude with regards to my comments on the issue of pornographic images. When the little video on the Lyndsay Dawn Mackenzie thread appeared I made a light hearted comment and thought no more of it. It was only after Brix posted his thread reviewing the board that I gave it more serious consideration. My 13 year old looks through the board occasionally and I would like to think that he wouldn't see stuff like that. Whether anything can be done to siphon stuff to an over 18 section, I will leave in the Mods' capable hands.

Sorry for not contributing in the previous thread Brix. Long break from the R's makes NorwayRanger a very dull man ;) Read through occasionally and found most of my thoughts covered. Don't get offended unless it's an unjustified personal dig, and can sort out for myself what's worth reading and what's not. Only thing that bugs me is all the in-house fighting going on, hijacking good OP-/threads. Apart from that a forum is like most in life, it's what you make it yourself.

Would all the same like to thank you for the massive effort put into both threads for the sake of this board, and yours and Nuts overall modding which is second to none on not606.

Massive respect and appreciation to you Brix for the graft you've put into this alone. You are the clint hill of all mods - honest, no nonsense, solid professional.

From my point of view, there's nothing on here to worry me, nothing offensive. I like all our boys and girl, I like the jibber jabber about our cursed club and I like it when we go OT. Im definitely in the if you don't like it, don't read it camp, but equally, I understand the likes of Col's concerns about the kids. What I'm saying is, I'm easy (not like that!)

The fact that you and nuts put this out at all, and that there are so many respectful, engaging replies speaks volumes for this place and illustrates very well why I like it so much.

Top man.

Thanks for the big-ups an' all, much appreciated BUT please, the personal embarrassment factor is more likely to stifle development opportunities than create pathways to something that both answers our critics (us!) and sophisticates our medium. So let's not detract from the exercise. People don't come on here for the mod show. WE come on here to be entertained in the way we've been entertained by newspapers in the past.

Fact is the net's fast becoming the better media option: immediate free access, up to the minute updates, authors you get to know and can interact with - and the opportunity of bringing that back page to the front, with OUR CLUB predominating over all things, instead of featuring as an after thought if there's space to fill.

This exercise ain't about winning your support on mod decisions / punitive measures, fairness, justice etc.. The vote a few months back overwhelmingly showed we have that for which we thank you. This time we're reviewing the QUALITY of our magazine if you like. Atm it's a bit of a shambles tbh, lots of fair criticisms from lots of valid corners. Clearly needs a bit of a tidy-up.

To this end your responses to the first round of this consultation clearly indicate what the areas of interest actually are and what needs to be tidied up. Once we've sorted the 'what' bits, we can move on to the 'how'. The 'love-in' element the cynics like to balk at, isn't that so much as an indication of a genuine community achievement. What a community gives us is the opportunity to communicate in ways that answer our problems and serve the good of all.

All I'm saying is we've have an opportunity here, so let's take while there are issues on the table and it's quiet on the losing front! I would ask though, that you don't take my apparent enthusiasm as a sign of madness looking for wholesale changes and fixing what ain't broke. Any positive change must be measured and kept relatively seamless if we're to benefit from what we create.

So please, have a look at what the OP is asking, pitch in and we'll move to the next stage.

Cheers.
