lol, but it isn't. If your scenario unfolded, then the player in question would have served a 3 match ban in total & no doubt would be invited to the FA & warned about their future conduct.

All your man needs to do is stay on his feet & not leave a snide boot in & he'll be fine <ok>

We conceded 40 goals for the whole of last season. And we've conceded 34 goals this season. So no, I'm not incorrect.

  4. I did say I was only using Suarez as an example! In reality, I don't think a player would ever get ten bookings in the first four months so it is irrelevant. As for a player having served his ban and therefore should go back to zero, I suppose you could look at it the other way and say the players that have not reached a ban are being rewarded for their 'fair play'.

PS...I know I am making it complicated <laugh>

lol, your post never made that distinction & what use is comparing how many goals you conceded after 38 games last season with how many you currently have after 27?

  6. His first posts about how many goals we have scored did...

...the post you read was a continuation of that conversation <ok>

If you read my previous post, I was also comparing the amount of goals scored as well - we have scored more this season than the whole of last season despite having 11 games left to play.

Then Gerrez asked for the same stat for goals conceded.

I hope this clears it up for you. Perhaps you should consider reading the previous comments before trying to WUM <ok>

wE ARE SCORING MORE AND CONCEDING AT A HIGHER RATE (FFS Caps <grr>) than last season, however we are 13 points behind our total points tally last season also. I think we can better that in 11 games. <ok>

I think we SHOULD be doing better considering the amount of games left to play...

Based on your points per game run rate for the season so far, you'll beat last years total. Plus looking at your remaining fixtures you've not got the hardest run in, so you should do Ok.

This time last season we had a very similar run in to the one we have now... Chelsea, Spurs and yourselves at home.

It was also this time last season our form nose-dived and we went on a relegation type of form. Just hope it doesn't happen again.

It never "goes back to zero". Bookings always accumulate over the season - it's not five in the first half and a separate five in the second. Basically:

Any player who gets five yellow cards in the first four months of the season gets a 1 match ban
Any player who gets ten yellow cards in the first eight months of the season gets a 2 match ban
Any player who gets 15 yellow cards in a season gets a 3 match ban
Any player who gets 20 yellow cards in a season gets a disciplinary committee, and probably a five or more match ban

So the hypothetical player who got ten yellow cards in the first four months would have served a one match ban followed by a later two match ban, and thus would have been punished exactly the same as a player who got five yellow cards in the first four months and five in the next four. If that player then accumulated another five yellow cards they would get a three match ban, so you can see how the poor discipline mounts up over the season.

I'm pretty sure the most yellow cards ever accumulated in a season is 14, so like you say ten in four months would be a bit excessive!

That's understandable because look at the kneejerk reaction to last season, when we played just as brilliantly at times - has everybody forgotten the slick Bellamy/Suarez/Maxi goal against Chelsea? - with just as many goal attempts, wins over top teams and two finals. As I predicted,. the law of averages has evened out regarding woodwork hits, which has increased goal return, something any manager could've realistically expected this season from this squad. We shoud've conservatively made 5th lasts eason if the woordwork hits had been average. What we didn't expect this season was a top defensive partnership turning to shinola.

the only knee-jerkers were the owners, most of us were content to let KD continue with his plan. But he was sacked so we must now put our faith in our new manager, and so far he has done well imho.
