I think they should scrap promotion and relegation to and from the premiership after this season anyway......the gap has grown and getting bigger....this was brought up a couple of years ago and should seriously start thinking that way now....it wont surprise me one bit if it happens soon...

That 80s period seemed to just go on forever. It was such a relief when we finally got promoted. However, we started to put together a really good young team under Eddie Gray, Sellars and Sheridan were great talents. We had some good cup runs and near misses when playoffs were introduced in 86-87. It always seemed we would get back, but it just took so long. By comparison, this spell has been nothing but an absolute ****ing nightmare. Bates has robbed the club blind, we've been in admin, at one point we didn't know if the club were going to be folded, and we spent three years in the Twilight Zone that is third division football. So yes, it was bad in the 80s, but this has been and is so much worse.

Wouldn't mind betting we would be at least where we are today. Would likely have had the excitement of two promotions and average gates of over 30k a week as bates wouldn't have had his eight years plus of pissing off the world. At least we might have had eight years of honest football to watch instead of a sham
