Hmmm, im no expert either. Its a shame my current pair have worn so quickly. But the foam isn't made for catching an indoor ball.

Dan, when I used to play in goal, I used neoprene fishing gloves. Good protection, and the tips of the fingers could be folded back to let some air in when hands got too sweaty.
Obviously the real reason was for when I was baiting lugworm and squid on 4 hooks.

My sindico gloves had seen better days and I wore these out of desperation. Went an got myslef a pair purely for football after that.
can get them from amazon, and I believe Lidl were sstocking them last year. Cost about £10. Hope this helps mate <ok>

Cheers Maestro, I will have a look at those. The only problem I foresee is a lack of finger support. I have had issues with nearly dislocating fingers in the act of saving before so it is important to me. But I will certainly have a look, thanks.

Dan, if they can handle force 7 winds, crab and lobster pots as well as the claws and hooks, believe me, it would take Hotshot Hamish (anyone remember him) to do any damage.

Morning all from a mild West West London, the sun is beginning to burn through the cloud and it looks set to be a fair day. I forgot to switch Mrs W_Y's alarm off this morning when I got up, and as it's half term, I am not going to be too popular!

Short week thie week as I am going to take a few days off and it's #2 son's 25th birthday - although I don't expect to see much of him as usual!

    Thanks for the frothy AK..

Dan - give Ipswich a call, they might have some spare keepers gloves

Dan - until age caught up with me I played futsal in goal for about 15 years and had a similar problem - in fact, early on, I had so many dislocated fingers that my doctor told me to stop playing as he was fed up with the late night call-outs. I tried just about every brand of glove there was on the market and none of them were really suitable, until a moment of inspiration made me try a pair of wicket-keeper gloves. They're a lot bulkier & feel odd at first, but they certainly offer more protection.

I can claim an honourable dislocated wrist done by Geoff Hurst. One of his gentle kick the ball to the side of me that I stuck out my hand to save without getting my body behind it. Silly OFH!

Bright and sunny here. Been down the fields with grand daughters who were breaking the ice on the puddles. One bicycle wheel taken off as I am asked to fix a puncture. How can one inner tube have four holes in it when I can only find one tack stuck in the outer casing?

    Need that coffee now ak.;)

I always fancied this as a 'football' song - probably too Scottish for Watford though:
