My understanding of Vettel's driving style (and please correct me if I'm wrong cosi), is that he gains time at corner entry and then puts his foot down at the apex. Without EBD this would result in the rear sliding on exit, but thanks to the EBD his car remains perfectly stable. So Vettel is fast in, fast out, and Webber can't adapt his style to benefit from EBD as much as Vettel does.

It's interesting what Brawn says, but it looks like he's talking about is the difference between McLaren's coanda exhaust and Red Bull's coanda ramp, not EBD's in general. Someone like Button would need a McLaren-style exhaust. Vettel doesn't need the extra braking stability that McLaren's exhaust provides because the RB6, RB7, post-Singapore RB8 and (based on testing observations) RB9 have enough rear downforce to give Vettel the braking stability he needs to make his style work.

[NSFW]Nope I just don't see how the driver board is "fair" when everybody else bar Lewis and Button did only 3 laps around that track in their lifetime. I don't have to make excuses up, it even says it on Wikipedia that whole MP4-12C car was designed on the top gear track and that both Lewis and Jenson helped with it's development. If Lewis did beat Seb's time by over a second I would of proved my point that he has been around that track more then he and his fanboys would like to admit.

    Evidence:

I agree still 10 months to go ASC but you got the lead for my vote <ok>[/NSFW]

I suppose it depends if there are more benefits for working on Seb's strengths or reducing his weaknesses, but it was evident from China on wards he didn't like the EBD layout RBR designed and would rather use an untested non EBD rear. Lewis to me seems a fast in slow out kind of driver as well like Seb, since with the EBD in 2011 Jenson easily had the measure of him but with the coanda effect Lewis clearly had the measure of Jenson.

Would love to read Cosicave's take on the matter, but even Seb admits his style through corners is fast in slow out, which suits Coanda more so than EBD by the sounds of it, (IMBO)

And I'll just add on this conversation which somebody points out in Autosport:

"I just felt more comfortable in the car ," Vettel explained.

"The balance was better for me than it was at the beginning, which caused problems especially in qualifying**. In the race you can mend a lot. Even if you are not a 100% happy you can make a good race. For that reason we always have been competitive in the race. For a long time I was not happy with the exhaust, even though it brought more downforce than the old version. I couldn’t play with the car the way I wanted, to fit my driving style. I get my speed in the corners in the entry, while Mark is better at the exit. Only the last ’Coanda’-solution got me close to what we had last year," added Vettel.

**Where the EBD really shines, in qualifying and would also support Sebs comments that he was far happier in the race than qualifying last year when the EBD was limited.

So yeah, lets ban all EBD's for 2014 and see what happens when all the cars use coanda <ok>

    One nightmare to another <laugh>

I agree Lewis looks much more happier now he is with Mercedes, but I still don't get his beef with Seb chucking those digs around. Would rather it just came out in the open that they hate each others guts than go about with this cloak and dagger BS.

You could tell from his lap that he's had considerably more experience than the other F1 drivers at that circuit. He knew exactly what lines to take whereas with the other drivers it looked like they were both trying to learn the track and go fast at the same time.

They could have brought someone like Alonso (the only world champion on the grid who hasn't been on Top Gear) or Hulkenburg (the midfield driver next in line for a top seat) or Perez (as he's the new McLaren driver who many British fans will be supporting this year) or even Di Resta (if they wanted a Brit).......but no, they had to take Lewis with his unfair advantage of the circuit. You know why? Because they wanted him to beat Vettel's time.

I'm sure Lewis will be laughing right now. I'm just as sure that Vettel will be laughing next month when he fights for pole position and Hamilton fights to make it into Q3.

Well it could be, but it's getting boring hearing about it IMO, it's like Button ranting about balance at every qualifying session if he doesn't do well.

Was a sweet lap none the less by Lewis, hopefully Seb and even Alonso give a shot at that time.

How do we know that Alonso has been invited but turned it down?

Jenson has done it twice, as has Lewis and He has kicked his ass. Seb may be back for another crack later, who knows?

If they want practice of the Top Gear track, why don't they just get Forza Motorsport? It's not like its that technical!!!

Welllllll like I said in my other post it just seems like that for me that Seb and Lewis do not like each other one bit, even less so with the relationship with Alonso. Of course that is just my opinion and Lewis might not be the problem and it could be that Seb just doesn't gel well with other people who are also F1 drivers <laugh>

To be honest, I think Lewis was given more laps to practice, nobody goes that quick like that out of the blue. I think he was just having banter with Silver about the fastest car thing, because I don't think he would be naive enough to say that. Also he can't talk really, with having a Mclaren that has been near enough there in terms of outright pace every year since he has joined.

He says he wants to do what Michael did with Ferrari.

    Well good luck to him.
