I've explained it many times. And I don't need to explain anything actually, our results are enough to do the talking, such as losing at home to Blackburn, or if that's not good enough for you, being 20+ plus points behind United, or if that's not good enough for you, sitting 5th in the table and trying to scrap for 4th spot. You take your pick...Oh but silly me, lol, all of these things makes Arsenal an elite club. Yes, a club that wins no trophies, hardly challenges for trophies, and only scraps for 4th spot is an ELITE club, LOL. If we're an elite club, then so are Spurs.
Because clubs like United, Bayern, Barca, Madrid, etc... have never gone through bad spells right (some have been far longer than 8 years), those clubs have never been upset before? Believe what you want.
Let's talk about the PRESENT, PRESENTLY Arsenal are not an elite club, how hard is that for you to get? Presently, Arsenal are not in the same league as the teams you have mentioned, and if you think we're in the same bracket as those teams, then you're more deluded than I thought.
See, class like Aguero will score when given a good ball through on goal. Rubbish like Gervinho will miss, and we end up losing.
In general terms, of course they aren't. Nearly every football team in any league system in the world is further than Arsenal.
Arsenal87 Man Utd went 26 years without winning a trophy. Do you think they were not considered to be a big club during that period ? Answer me honestly, how long have you been supporting Arsenal ? Because it sounds like you're one of the spoilt, impatient fans who have only known the glory days of the early Wenger years. I get that we're not at our best currently and there are areas I want us to address to improve, but if you'd experienced supporting this club over 30 years or longs, you'd know that currently, there is much more to be grateful for than there is to whine about. And don't come back with that tired old blinker brigade, accepting mediocrity rubbish, because that argument has been shown up for the bollocks that it is. Every fan on here has expressed an opinion about how we can improve, and nobody has accepted or been blind to anything.
It depends on your definition of 'elite'. I'd say Arsenal are, in general terms, amongst the elite. I'll add that I never questioned your stance: my original point was that you'd be hard pressed to define Arsenal being as far from being elite as possible. I'd argue that's a silly, immature overreaction to what we can all agree was a hugely disappointing result.
Certainly according to UEFA we are. We are ranked 6th in Europe, so that firmly puts us in with the 'Elite' clubs. http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/index.html
Liverpool running riot against Swansea, thank **** they lost to WBA, otherwise they would have been breathing down our necks in the table.
You guys don't seem to understand the difference between being an ELITE club, and a BIG cub. I haven't DENIED that Arsenal are a big club, yes, we are a BIG CLUB, but we are not an ELITE CLUB. Liverpool, Spurs, Everton, are all big clubs, but they're not elite, just like Arsenal, we're a big club, but not an elite one in the same bracket as your United's, Madrid's, Barca's, and even Chelsea's. And you DAMN RIGHT I'm impatient, I'm not shy at all to admit that. With the bloody prices we Arsenal fans pay, you damn right I want success now, I think I pay one of the highest season ticket prices in the country with 1380 pounds a year (over 2000 bloody dollars). 8 years is long enough to put up with mediocrity and failure, with the resources our club has, and the stature our club should be at, hellllll yes I'm impatient, the patience has ran out, enough's enough. I'm sick of only scrapping for 4th spot, I'm sick of being massively behind the leaders of the league, I'm sick of us winning nothing, I'm sick of us not challenging for anything, I'm sick of us always bottling everything in the exact same fashion as previous seasons, damn right I'm impatient.
Just our luck to get drawn against the team with the best defence in football. If only we had drawn Leeds or Swansea , or even Brentford. Chelsea and Liverpool get all the walkover teams , and we get the real hard nuts , Blackburn Rovers . dammit . they leak 13 goals between them . We cant get a single goal in 94 minutes . What are the chances eh ?
We don't understand your arbitrary labeling of 'big' and 'elite' because you haven't explained the parameters. If you can do this then maybe we can judge.
I won't speak for Arsenal87, but I'd hazard a guess and say an elite club should: 1. Have won a trophy in the last 8 years. 2. Not be completely out of contention for their domestic league with half the season to go. I can't believe so many people are arguing for us being an elite club. Forget interpretation, the dictionary definition of elite is enough.
Depends how you look at these things, if we had won one carling cup in 2007, or 2011 would that have then made us an elite club, plus real are out of contention for their domestic league, but I would still class them as an elite club.
