I love these comments about "in first gear", "never out of second or third gear" - what a load of ****e. Got any proof?

Man C were desperate to put to bed the performance of last week. And they did it, by putting on a classy performance.

As for 99% of fans would prefer better players - no **** Sherlock? But these are the players we have and for that lot, with a bunch of kids in the team who will only get better and better, your moaning and slagging of them shows why I am happy we don't have a manager like you in charge - how to completely deflate someone rather than encourage them to be better in future! Our team weren't physical, but they never gave up. 99% of fans want that, irrespective of the player who pulls on the shirt.

As for the rest of the season past, we have played really crap at times. Today, we didn't. Today, we actually tried to play football, to press teams, to shut them down, to be competitive, and we tried to do the skilful stuff at times too, but it didn't come off against that Man C team of world-beaters.

As for never having seen a worse LUFC team, your memories are shockingly one-sided. And you clearly weren't around to watch the mid-80s.

And name a player that you would like to castigate for that performance, please. You seem not to have done that.

Our future looks bright. Next season, young manager, young team, proper football philosophy throughout the club, one or two midfielders is all that is needed, and get some of those kids in who are out on loan or breaking through the Development Squad. Your short term views, and inability to see the potential albeit not being realised at the moment, is boring, incessant, naive and lacks all knowledge of the game.

Habibou (Who I believe will prove to be another waste of money and worse than Forrsell) what a perfect game to give him a run out, we have him on loan with a view to a permanent, same as Hall one for the future, he is 25 so give him some game time, Warnock really has lost the plot.

    1) Warnock said we are not dipping into the loan market as there is nobody out there to improve the team - That is worrying that there is no one out there better than what we witnessed today
    2) Barkley was available, we sent him back, I don't believe that there is anyone around who genuinely believes Barkley is worse than any of our midfield.
    3) Why sign Tonge, Hall and Habibou and not play them?
    4) Why play White right midfield, clearly he hates it there

Warnock has assembled an ageing team that we are stuck with for at least another season, god help any new manager coming in, if we thought Grayson had left us plenty of deadwood we have a forest of it now.

As for the future, not a pot to piss in and probably another sale required for GFH to keep their investors happy.

It's all relative though Eire, compared to Leeds United circa '83/'84 we're actually not bad at all, depends what era you're comparing us to though, and it's also all relevant to the amount of money spent on the squad.

I was 17 when this team were playing, I used to love George McCluskey and Andy Ritchie - I have just wiki'd McCluskey - I can't believe he only scored 16 goals for Leeds.

I also remember watching young Tommy Wright score a cracking goal in an FA Youth cup match.

McCormack better than McCluskey by far, Diouf better than Ritchie. In fact, on a like for like basis this squad far superior to 83/84, which competed against the likes of mighty Shrewsbury and Grimsby, as opposed to the current era of parachute payments and rich owner assisted clubs

Everyone has a differing opinion - For me we haven't had a worse team in at least the last 7 years than we have now, they are woeful. For me I would take nearly every player from that 84 team posted above, far more balance and I have to really question Diouf over Ritchie?

    Neil Aspin
    John Sheridan
    Andy Linighan
    Dennis Irwin
    Andy Ritchie
    Frank Gray
    Scott Sellars

Would walk into the current squad and be irreplaceable in my opinion <ok>

I loved watching that team. Except at corners - Eddie had everyone back and we could never get out cos we just hoofed it back to their guys on the halfway line and they started again.

Then we sold Sheridan, Sellars, Linighan, got players in like the Snodin bro's, Aidan Butterworth, Ormsby, lost Lorimer, Linighan, Stiles, Irwin, Tommy Wright, sacked Eddie (rightfully) began again with Bremner, and we were really rubbish for a while. But it was brilliant in the Kop, stood up, great atmosphere at times.

But a better team than this one? Certainly not. But Wilko developed the academy and gave us a great base to move on with. And that's what we seem to possibly be doing at the moment.

So chin up guys, the future may be bright.

Yeah a few good young players, but seem to remember them being a bit small against some of the muscle in that league - Sellars and Wright for example. And yes McClusky and then Ian Baird to follow.

The way Wilko breezed in a la Revie and totally transformed the entire club without spending vast amounts, maybe Adkins could do that? Journeymen like Bobby Davison, Imre Varadi, Carl Shutt, Peter Haddock playing out of their skins and for the shirt, no more David Rennie's and equivalent dross - great times.

**** off Warnock, you just ain't got what it takes

Definately some parallels with that era and yes sense a move to build with youngsters again.

Intersetingly LiE, Wilko blew the budget, spending millions (at that time, only a couple of million was a huge amount). We had to sell the stadum to Leeds City Council to stave off bankruptcy for a similar amount previously in that decade, and also had Hunslet playing Rugby there to help pay the rent. If we had not gone up that year, the club and the Chairman were bankrupt.
