You mean the way that QPR stopped playing for the last 5 minutes last season cos Bolton's result came in earlier after Joey Barton ****ed around for 5 minutes getting sent off, conceding 2 goals in the process and thus allowing Citeh to win the league? I don't recall a massive match-fixing investigation then.
I'm still inconclusive as to who actually fixed that, it could be the premier league & sky as it was a great advert for the sport and competition around the world, but I still think man cities owner had a few milluon stashed away for QPRs owner behind his back.
Why is it? Im deadly serious. Im not suggesting for one minute that QPR 'fixed' the match or there was anything pre-meditated but I am 100% convinced that they stopped playing as soon as they knew they were safe as Bolton's game finished earlier than theirs. And why shouldn't they? Im not suggesting there is anything wrong with it at all, I would be exactly the same. After 9 months of struggle they knew they were safe and they wanted to avoid injury. What if one of their players had snapped a cruciate by trying their balls off when there was nothing at stake for them anymore? It's humn nature and people forget that footballers are exactly the same as everyone else. They'd won their battle so understandably relaxed.
I still think we can take the title, it may be with 1-0's but have we ever been in this position before with 14 games to go with a squad as strong as we have now? With Steve Bruce's guidance, less pressure on us than Cardiff & Leicester, and Aluko back and the Eqyptians up to speed and if we stay injury free we are in the best position in our history to take the title.
good point.. Reading last season seemed to win their last 10 games 1-0.. QPR were favourites then.. the fat lady hasn't even started clearing her throat yet..
We only need 1 more point than third place Over the last seasons see how many points third has had and how many points at approx this stage of the season Year / Total Pts for 3rd / Pts Now for 3rd 2013 ?? 56 2012 86 54 2011 80 54 2010 79 58 2009 80 59 2008 75 57 2007 84 59 2006 81 58 2005 85 60
That's a cracking table! Doncaster with games in hand and Yeovil with 8 wins on the bounce. As for us, let's just take each game as it comes, as I hope Bruce is doing. Anyone genuinely can beat anyone on the day and we're not prolific goalscorers. If we don't take control of a game like we usually do then we'll struggle to get maximum points.
Will need more than 7 wins to keep ahead of our main threat - Udinese 2nd Eleven. Think 9 wins and a couple of draws.
