Big no from me cause to much trouble it's bad enough having old firm derbies imagine throwing in Chelsea into that mix or the whole England - Scotland issue. Not to mention who goes out to give them a place.
Oh I don't know Froggy, whole weekends in Glesga would be a blast man on away trips. Add in Chelsea & West Ham & you've got the perfect mix. Would love to see Chelsea v Celtic or Rangers v West Ham, getting a hard on now.
In fairness... Celtic play a UEFA cup final. Their fans get a FIFA fair play award and they are invited back to Seville for a festival annually. Rangers play a UEFA cup final. Their fans riot and cause a national disgrace. .....just sayin
And your saying this just because of what Jacky? We all know you're anti British, so I would guess that makes you anti Rangers although feel perfectly free too correct me. Look, I can converse with you perfectly well & I actually like you. I'm having one of those sleepless nights, you know, nightmare scenario.
I do remember machester. i remember the rampages and a single police officer being tripped over to be attacked by a braying mob. i'll be careful here. i have no drama with celtic / rangers playing in the english league. for me, start championship and prove themselves. BUT, i don't want their supporters (not tarring all jocks as kick off merchants, but from evidence....) doing what they did in manchester, and agin I understand it is a minority but as another poster said(yes, i'm agreeing with a geordie here) i don't want bigoted idiots bringing there up/down with the IRA, Queen, etc to our stadiums.
Fair enough mate, although as you state it is a minority. If we judged/punished a club based on a minority of its fans there wouldn't be many left!
Both Celtic and Rangers would add some spice to the EPL for sure but the Scottish v English thing would dominate events every week. That would need controlling, although in time it would probably settle down. However, although I'm not totally opposed to the proposal personally, they would though have to start from the 4th tier of English football imo and work upwards, or its a definite no from me.
It would amuse me if they go to the EU or whatever, and the result is that Berwick come back to England. But in all seriousness, if they want to come let them. But they would have to start at the very bottom for me. You simply can't tell an existing club that has earned the right for their place in English football to be be demoted or not go up etc in order to accommodate them. Going back to Berwick, if they did come back to England, would they be welcomed to the Football League or PL or whatever. Why should the bigger names of Celtic and Rangers be treat any differently simply because they are Rangers or Celtic?
Do not want rangers or Celtic in the prem they belong in Scottish football not here , this will not happen and the people on here saying it would be a good idea ? Why ... First rangers the Celtic then who anyone else who feels it would benifit from there club being in the prem this idea is a joke end off and even if they did move down who would they replace ? In order for this to happen uefa would have to re write the rule book and that then could open the door to all sorts of things and they just won't do it . IMO thats a good thing
First of all, we don't need Celtic or Newco Rangers in England, they need England. Secondly, if either of these clubs were to join England, they should under no circumstance be allowed to join in at league 2 level. They should be forced to join right at the lowest level of the footballing pyramid. Ofcourse, the FA along with the premier league are only interested in the capacity to generate money, so neither of these clubs would be forced to work their way up from the lowest level. I'm more than certain a couple of clubs in league 2 would be more than willing to forfeit their positions for a few million quid.... I have no desire to see them in England.
There's soooooooo many problems with them coming down here I don't see a majority ever being happy, although I think a GB league would be immense. If we incorporate Rangers and Celtic, goodbye Scottish league system, because it's so poorly supported unless the big-boys are in town. Seriously, I lived near Queen of the South, and their attendance figures are an utter disgrace compared with lower league English clubs. So it's all or nothing for me. If they all come down, all of the Welsh clubs should be incorporated too. Those clubs won't be happy because, while gaining more revenue from a better league system, they will never get Champions League or Europa qualification again. Also, these regional league supporters can barely lift their arses to support their clubs when they're 30 miles away, I doubt they'd bother with a long trek to meet another nation's team. Also, if we had a GB league, the home nations would be forced to play as one in all probability, which is something the Welsh and Scottish would hate, as many define themselves as "not English" a lot of the time. If we were to just talk Rangers or Rangers and Celtic moving to England, they cannot simply come into the premier league, or championship, or even the league 1 or 2. They must start at the lowest point. Gate receipts and champions league rights out of the window there. So, either we scrap the entire system and amalgamate all the leagues, which will lead to some clubs going for promotion just now missing out and being pissed, Rangers and Celtic start at the bottom, or Rangers and Celtic stay-put and never bring this up again. I think the majority would only be satisfied by the latter, so it should stay as is.
On the one hand, we'd have two great clubs in the Prem. On the other, they'd take up two spaces (sooner or later) and that would restrict the chances of clubs like Wigan, Blackpool, Burnley etc having a shot at the big time. Not convinced either way, but it would certainly bugger up Scottish football and I'm not sure that's such a good idea. We have traditionally got a lot of good players from North of the border and I've been hoping for a while that we might get a few more when the SPL picks up a bit.
All that would happen in the long run is that England would have one (or two if you include Celtic) more club/s in the premier league with a large enough fan base to maintain attracting European based players via the influence of money. The long-term impact upon the English game will be a reduction in opportunities for home grown English talent and hence, provide a knock on effect in terms of the quality of the English national team. Why should England lower the capacity to nurture English talent just to accommodate a club/s whom have effectively destroyed the Scottish game? (Let us bear in mind that Celtic havn't actually suggested that they would wish to play in England thus far.) Or have they?
