Reading articles that say "Almunia=Chesney" "Mannone is better than Chesney" etc... Criticizing him for not palming it away but some people need to get a grip
I am stunned at the reaction of fans to the loss. It was a not good match for Arsenal but games like this do happen. Arsenal is not going to win every game and a trophy is unlikely in any season for clubs in Arsenals position. Manchester Utd City Chelsea are the teams that can expect a trophy but the others are just in a lottery. Sometimes a team gets lucky and wins one. Do not worry too much because Arsenal will beat Bayern.
This Arsenal team when it clicks can beat anyone including Barcelona. It is a complete team but inconsistent. You have to remember that in a short space of time Wenger has totally rebuilt the squad. Just think about it. It takes time for all the players to get consistency. If Arsenal play their best game then Bayern will not be able to live with it. I see great things for Arsenal in the next 2 or 3 years which is very different i know from most fans here. On a champion league night at the Emirates I just have a feeling Arsenal will click.
No, the Arsenal team of 2 years ago or even last year can beat anyone. As for Barcelona, even Celtic beat them, we also beat them. They are not invincible, they are one dimensional but that one dimension they have is pretty amazing. Bayern are completely different to Barca: They keep shape, they are tough to break down, they use possession more effectively and have more than one way of playing. They very much remind me of the Chelsea team (04-06). Overnight Arsenal are going to have cut out any defensive mistakes if they want to beat Bayern, today's loss would have been massively damaging. Lets just say the draw is done and your ball draws Barnsley or Huddersfield/Wigan. That's pretty much one win and your at Wembley, you'll be kicking yourselves. If Bayern win on Tuesday, Wenger is massively under pressure, everybody accepts Bayern are a class side but a draw keeps Arsenal in the tie with a chance of going through, a defeat (of any kind) puts you out.
Actually, I think the pressure is off Arsenal a bit against Bayern, as everybody is expecting Bayern to win. As long as we give a good account of ourselves, then anything can happen
To an extent I agree with you Piskie. I believe there is no pressure on Arsenal (the team) but there is pressure on Wenger. There is growing discontent amongst the WOB and AKB seem to be declining/less vocal. If Arsenal can get an early goal or at least start well that might rock Bayern and then all of a sudden the crowd are right behind the team. A big atmosphere at the Emirates is needed, Bayern are the best team to come to the Emirates in about 2 years IMO.
This Arsenal team is a more complete team to the one from two years ago or a year ago. I will stand by my prediction that Arsenal will beat Bayern and should start favourites against any team in the world at the Emirates in a champion league match.
tbh Arsenal can be great at counters ... and with walcott upfront if they opened up you can punish them hard
Our smashing leader has spoken , this is what he had to say at Arsenal.com . 'We Weren't Good Enough to Win the Game' ahh , i see . "It is very painful and very disappointing to lose a game like that. What is important now is to focus on the next one. " Translated ..........." i hope they soon forget about this latest humiliation quickly , i hope to see out my contract , im coining it even in failure ."
Would you rather he said it was all fine. Or is admitting the tea ****ed up not good enough for you anymore.
We all know the team ****ed up, even AW so really that was the only thing he could possibly have said, but then again that guy ALWAYS complains about AW's interview responses after any non-win.
I would rather he said fack all than state the bleeding obvious for the thousandth time , guess you lot havent heard it quite enough yet tho eh ? No rage against the ****tyness , no " something WILL be done to stop it happening again . All the passion for winning of a dead badger. "we didnt play well enough to win " Thanks Arsene , we sure feel like you got your finger on the pulse mate . ****in genius. ps ......" non - win " ****in priceless that is. You been listening to wengers bullshit for so long its become part of your vocab . non - win ......
No you'd probably be bitchin that AW didn't adress the loss, he doesn't care, etc... PS you do realize he HAS to say something seeing as how there is ALWAYS a Post-Match Interview and the reporter asked him a question about it.
Wenger needs to go, simple as that. Every year is the same story, or correction, every year is getting worst now, nothing is ever going to change with Wenger in control. It has nothing to do with money as some have tried to claim, as even when we had money available in January, he didn't spend to make the needed improvements. This team has clear on field problems as well, which has nothing to do with money, but Wenger's managing. 4th place or no 4th place this season, I've said it before, and will say it again, WENGER NEEDS TO GO.
You think he needs to go. Others don't think so. Some are waiting to reserve judgement. Yada yada yada.
The money argument can't no longer be used to explain our failures especially over these last two years. Currently Spurs have a four point gap over us, yet we spend a lot more on wages compared to them. Not to mention Everton, another team we have competed with in the league this season. Then there are the failures in the cup. Bradford and Blackburn. Sweet jesus, these two are just hideous performances. The fact it happened once in a season is bad, but to then repeat it a couple months afterwards, is staggering. You would think after Bradford, some of the morons in our team might have a learnt a thing or two? But, clearly not. The players did not learn and neither did Wenger.
