Ron, from my view which was a pretty good one, there were 3 pen shouts by your lot and 2 were just diving and should have been booked for it. kuffour was trying his best to get a pen as he certainly wasnt going to score any other way with our mean defence. the other pen shout i think some refs would have given it and some wouldnt. looked like a shirt was pulled and if it was on the half way line then a free kick would have been given but you see the pulling shirt and tugging every time there is a cross/corner into the box and 90% of teh time the ref lets it go. the ref was very poor i thought. took us forever to get a decision our way. to me he certainly gave you the majority of the decision <ok>

i think we if were still playing now it would still be 1-0 as neither side actually looked like scoring.

To be fair I think the ref should have booked a number of the Wycombe players as they got away with quite a few pro fouls always in the oppositions face, as it was he wanted them to kiss and make up never going to happen.

The second half was Wycombes apart from a couple of gilt edged chances which JJ and co missed otherwise we would have been home and dry.I like Kuffour but felt he was playing for a pen def should have been booked for a blatant dive when up against Parkes who gave him some verbals after it was not given. We def rode our luck and suggest that Kuffour needs a partner similar to Lambert to score goals today he was really on his own with some help from midfield.

I can see why and how Wycombe win so many they work hard get in the oppositions faces give you no time on the ball and foul where and when required other than the goal it was a game of two resolte defences we just came out on top today another game it could have been a complete reversal of fortunes,Im happy though phew!

Oh yeh where was our 94th min goal today!!

Manager on today's win

John Ward was especially pleased with the manor of today’s victory after he saw his team dig deep and defend their 1-0 lead.

The manager believes the manner of the win epitomises the spirit of his side in recent weeks.

He said: “Of all the wins we have had recently that is as good as any, because we have had to dig in and work hard defensively to get that.

“It epitomises what we are trying to do, especially those last couple of minutes when we have players throwing themselves at shots.

“The spirit is alive and well and the crowd responded to it as well. It has been a good day.”

The manager was very pleased with the work of Ryan Brunt who scored the only goal of the game.

He said: “He has scored two goals and he has been involved in two penalties, he is handful for people.

“He is happy to work that channel alone a little bit, and he is a massive addition for us. He is 19 but you don’t have to be an old player to have experience.”

And there were also words of praise for his defence who kept another clean sheet.

“The defence played great and we haven’t conceded a goal. We haven’t had to rely on Steve Mildenhall to keep us in the game, we defended very strongly in front of him.

“My two centre backs have been terrific. The back five has been consistent in my selection and they have stayed strong physically and mentally.

“We do a lot of defending work at the training and there is a huge pride amongst those guys at the back if they can keep a clean sheet on a Thursday morning.

“So when it really matters on a Saturday afternoon you can see they don’t want anything to get past them.

“We have taken training ground mood and spirit onto the playing field. The clean sheets are a sign we are making progress.”

Despite the continued positive mood around the camp, the manager will not be carried away as there are a lot of games coming up in quick succession.

He said: “You cannot get too carried away as we play again on Tuesday, and then on Saturday, and then the following Tuesday and the following Saturday, so enjoyment time is limited.

“We wake up tomorrow and we are preparing for the next one.

“You can bet your life Rotherham will be smarting as we beat them not long ago and they will look to put one over on us, so we will have to be strong again.

“We had a number of bumps and bruises today but nothing major that I think will keep anyone out of Tuesday.”

Just shows what commitment and organisation can bring you. Since Ward came back I don't think
we've been by far the better team in any match...we just grind it out, nobody hides; and then we come
in at the end saying 'Job done'.
I thought the last minute goal thing was going to bit us in the **** today and be against us, but no,
the gods are still smiling at us.
I just admire the spirit in this team..and that's all any fan can expect as a bare minimum.

...and Brunt is only 19!.............

<ok> We seemed to be invincible at the moment and IMO I can't really see many of the teams in the remaining fixtures giving us to many problems except for maybe Port Vale and Exeter also Northampton away may be a tough one.

for me mildenhall commands his box so well is gives confidence to the defence. having clucas, norburn and o'toole in front of the defence makes us stronger and all of a sudden we are not conceding that mant goals. what a difference a experience keeper and a midfield that actually exists in front of the defence! doing the basics right is key. if we dont concede we dont lose and if we take just 1 chance and thats all we need to bag the points.

what sums our current team spirit and fight was near the end there was a goal mouth scramble in our box and every gas player put their body on the line blocking shots getting in the way of everything and when the ball was saft, our players were all celebrating hugging and high fiving each other like we scored. that was great to witness.
