Have to say that both the Oldham team and their supporters are a great advert for League One. Reminds me of the fun that was had in that league. Dare I say proper football..? :)

Oldham are one of those teams that wouldn't look too out of place in the Premier League, in my opinion. There were a lot of games in that division which I wouldn't have described as proper football. There are some teams, such as Oldham and Crewe, who are quite easy on the eyes but I'd say the majority of teams in League One are rather frustrating to watch.

So lamb, nothing to get you excited today then? Arsenal dumped out by a lower division side, a cracking tie between Oldham and Everton. A very boring day then.

Yes, I appreciate what you say, Joe. I have been watching Oldham v Everton and there are parallels with Saints at The Dell which remind me of how football used to be, hence my proper football comment. In that tight little ground, there was a fervour and excitement that drove the Oldham team to such efforts. Lovely result and really entertaining. It isn't all about star players and bling.

To be honest, it was going to be a very underwhelming day today. I got up and actually declared to myself that I would do nothing [I have been very busy of late] and proceeded to sit myself in front of the computer, drinking coffee and being bored. My low expectations of the day meant that I spent time looking at events that I wouldn't normally bother with. But those events have been really entertaining, and it has lifted my mood.
