Jaime's spoke out about losing a drive he believed was secure for this season. He talks about not giving up on F1, and that he deserves a winning car.

Thoughts? I believe he's good enough, or will be good enough, to win races. His last full season, he showed real progress as a racer, and wouldn't look out of place in a front-running car.

He is only 22 plenty of opportunities will come about I reckon. He was a good racer, not a lot of silly mistakes in his driving. But I think his potential went unnoticed.
Well he is still a good BBC Practice Session commentator.

I heard an interesting quote from Alguersuari about his work with Pirelli. I think it was something along the lines of he learnt more about tyres in one day of Pirelli testing than he did in his entire Toro Rosso tenure.

I don't really agree with this. The teams with any ambition pick drivers based on quality, if you're being looked over for pay drivers then you're not good enough to fight for wins. Even in the midfield you get drivers like Hulkenberg, Bottas and di Resta who are picked up for talent not cash, Toro Rosso's drivers are picked on potential, Vergne and Ricciardo didn't buy Jaime's seat, Ricciardo is certainly a much better driver. If Jaime was as good as he thinks he is one of the top five teams would've had a look him, it's not lack of funds causing them to overlook him. It's only once you get to the arse end of the grid that money overrides talent, and the teams down there scarcely qualify as proper F1 teams in my opinion.
