Between Onuoha and Mensah after the game on sat if this is true http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ha-John-Mensah-bust-up.html?ito=feeds-newsxml Send them both back IMO I like Nedum but for 8m!!!! and Mensah we need someone who is better than what we currently have and who is available for 90% of the games atleast, Chris Samba for me.
I have to say that I quite like Nedum as a centre back but not as a right back. He is strong, young and quick and as far as standing up to Mensah after his hapless 2nd half show, good on him. There is no place for shrinking violets in a football dressing room and Mensah looked more like Nyron Nosworthy than an International defender for much of the game v Wolves. His petulance in not shaking the young lads hand and ignoring Bruce after the club stood by him through all his injuries was very poor fare IMO. Keep Onuoha and ditch Mensah? I reckon we could get him for ã5m or ã6m maximum. After all, he hasn't a hope in hells of getting a place in the multi billionaire squad at City.
Agree here - let's keep Onuoha and he is worth 5-8m. As for Mensah, I've been one of his best fans. He seems to have lost his way a bit in the second half of the season and I would still like to keep him as I still rate him very highly indeed, though if Gyan gets sold, plus Sulley gone - there go our Ghanaians, all of them I reckon.
So ned had a go at mensah for being crap, bet riveros was sat in the corner ****ting himself... Send them back, Mensah has lost it, and in the real world ã8 million can buy better than ned, But if there is a significant price reduction, he could be worth trying to keep.
Well its good to see some passion at last, pity it was after the game and after our last home game. I dont blame Ned for having a go, infact I think its great if late. Mensah last season looked a real class act but I think his reaction is because he knows how bad he has been playing, I think he so wants to stay here but knows he wont be. Ned, for me, does not do it, its all there and in bits he shows it but like to many of our team its the in bits that concern me, would not be heartbroken if he stays but nither would I if he goes, we can do better.
But neds goal at Chealski was worth a great deal to our fans, he might never do it again but I loved that goal.
and who said loan players dont care for the team (ned not mensah btw), good on the lad for saying what 1000`s thought.
my thought exactly steve and it makes me think, Ned always seems quiet on the pitch to me, bit of an outsider. It may well, and probably is, just his manner but could he be one of these who needs to belong and feel wanted. Still a young lad, never been anywere but City so could a permanent move bring out a new Ned, a better, louder one?
i reckon bruce had a word with them and told them that being as they are both centre backs, there is only one place available. so they kicked off, as neither wanted it
It's no good giving Mensah a game here and two games there, and then when he's injured, complain about it. We all know he's going to be injured before we play him. And we all know why. But no one wants to deal with the problem. I've read somewhere we can sign him for ã1 million. So why not sign him, stick another ã1 million in his hand - instead of wages - and say 'Get the operation, see you next August'. In return, we ask that he will commit himself to the club for 3 years from when he comes back. Outcome : we get a fully fit, first-class international defender in 2012 for ã2 million and he gets a much more productive and pain-free last 5 years or so from his career. I'm not saying the sums I've used above are correct. They're probably not. But wouldn't it be better for Sunderland, for John, and for Ghana if someone had the balls to sit down and deal with the problem instead of whingeing about injuries and doing nowt?
must say Cutey the more i read your comments, the more i like your ideas and balanced views well done.
Am I the only one who would like to see both back next season? Anything under 7million for Onuoha for me is a good investment, young, english, versatile and physically imposing and reliable. 1st season Mensah was a revelation and without a doubt one of the best defenders i'd ever seen at the SOL. He hasnt become a bad player overnight but I just feel a lack of continuity at the back coupled with another season of injury problems and the team not playing well as a whole has clouded my views over his performances. A good pre season and a few quality additions and I reckon we could see the best from him again, and as for 1million for me it would be a steal.
i want them both back. Mensah can be good cover for Titus and Turner (our best pairing unquestionably, we dont need another starting CB) and if he knows the area and the players we might aswell get him. Its less of a risk. I prefer Onuoha too the suggestions of Hutton as he can defend. Ask Harry redknapp why he dropped Hutton after the Wolves v Spurs game afew weeks ago!
