Yes he has missed some good chances, but he was robbed of two goals yesterday, and one of them was a fantastic instinctive finish, like the sort of Cisse we saw last season.

Cisse has had to step into some big shoes after being pushed to the side to try and compliment Ba, and if he'd gotten those two goals yesterday, his record would be like 1 in 2 since Ba left.

Even if he isn't scoring goals at a particular time, he still plays a good part in our build up play.

    Howay Cisse!!!

agree there Tash. Cisse is just not getting the rub of the green.
A team is gonna take a whooping off him sooner or later.

Without watching the whole game film, I can only recall one time last night when I was disappointed with him. That was his one on one with the keepeer. While he didn't do anything actaully wrong, I expect more quaity from him.

For the rest of the game I thought he was very good. Certainly he took his "goals" well. The shot that went over the bar was a very hard chance. His final header was excellent - - unfortunately, so was the keeper.

For me the good thing is Cisse is getting into the positions to score and he'll come good. They need to get him in training perfecting the offside rule thoughas he's always right on the shoulder of the defenders.

I didn't think he was awful last night. Defo lacking some confidence though but once he gets a couple he will be banging them in. You could see the excitment and hunger from him after he thought he scored twice last night and that is good to see.

I thought his second "goal" was worthy of him last year

Your seat must be far wide of the goal to be behind him
Joking aside he still is a top player and its all down to confidence last season he was instinctive his year he is over thinking and clutching at straws.
The concern is we are in such a dodgy place and we can't afford to loss points like Saturday were he missed a sitter again.
I blame the club for not replacing baa which would take the pressure if him

Its hard for a striker like him playing in a team low on confidence and that doesnt create much except from hoofing it up (us pre january), I think come s'hampton when we have a full strength squad he'l flourish again and i'll be betting on him bagging a brace or scoring 1st!!

SOmeone does need to explain the offside rule to him though. The number of times Sissoko, Marv, Jonas etc. made a break and ran at the defence, only to find that he had run offside for no reason, it really was aggravating. Besides that, he did well

Yes, but to be fair, he's a striker, he's always gonna be near the back four, the other players can from the back. Cisse has to time his movements more carefully.

All strikers want to score goals and Cisse is no exception. We all know he can score them and will get his name on the sheet regularly.

He'll come good before too long.

Exactly - I'd be far more worried if he wasn't getting into good positions - Timing again will come, if you're always playing off the shoulder of the last defender you're going to win some / lose some.

Let's be honest, he effectively scored two last night and the finsh for the "second" was a cracker.

Have faith, it'll come good again

He's going to bag a hat-trick eventually. He'll have one of those games where everything he hits ends up in the net. Hopefully it'll be Saturday 13th April.

The one thing we've failed ot mention is how well he does now with the linkup play.

With Ba, he was virtually hopeless at that.........
With Cisse, he (finally) knows now how to release a through ball, hold up and pass to a teammate on the break.

Take a look at the Chelsea Sissoko 1st goal for instance, he definitely played a major part in that.

I agree, it's a confidence thing and once he hits form he will bag goals. I can see him having a stormer some time soon. I certainly hope so as we need to climb that table.

I genuinely think that an extended run at centre forward with support play from Sissoko, Cabaye, Le Gouf and Benni (when he's back) will see him scoring regularly.

I'd 100% start Shola against the Mackems, though. Cisse didn't miss just one clear-cut chance vs Metalist, he missed several, and it really summed up his season I thought. Some bad luck, and a lot of poor finishing.

The header at the end he should have buried... The chest down when through was a difficult chance, but he should have done so much better... The One-on-One Freddd mentioned... He probably should have had a hat-trick even if we take away the Ref's corrupt decisions. He reminds me of Torres <wah>

If we're going to have one striker upfront who's not scoring goals, Shola needs to start vs the Mackems for the entertainment factor <ok>

I'd rather play Le Gouff in the Derby, seeing Bramble and the Manure rejects trying to cope with his pace would be highly entertaining...

Does Cisse know that Tash is full behind him? No wonder he is misfiring!

But Gouff has to make sure Pardew isn't tempted to play Jonas and Santon on the same side!!! <grr>

He played very well up until the 2nd was disallowed, which just seemed to break him mentally. He can't get a break at present. I thought their keeper was excellent and would be worth keeping an eye on to be honest. He oozed confidence and stability. His saves from Cisse were very good and he got his angles right all night. That said the header should have been buried and I think he should have lifted the one on one. The chances he is missing is hurting us. His all round game is improving but his touch and passing still needs more work.

Overall I'm happy to have him and have confidence he'll find his way back. He is getting the chances. He needs stiffer competition next season though, like he had with Ba.
