Hi guys Just wanted to say hi and look forward to reading updates / news and banter from fellow WFC fans. Followed the Orns's since the early 80's but don't get much chance to see the lads due to work commitments and my location in Northamptonshire (hence my name)....a good season completed and looking forward to the summer break before we start again in August.
Welcome to not606 Cobbler - a mate of mine moved from bandit country to Northampton a couple of years ago, he comes down most home games.
its excellent that we have a sport following outside of watford, if you go to any games from northampton that is impressive, glad to have you here
Golden boy when its in the blood you have to return , its like a pilgrimage!!! Frenchie manages a game or 2 a season I manage the odd one (usually Derby away as my family are from derby) I`m sure even NZ has been back !!! If you go to front page of the nest! there is BB`s world map of Hornets , I dont know if you have seen it , but we are everywhere!
Whilst I only live in Reading these days I remember accepting a 5 month trip across the USA as a support driver for a runner. Great idea at the time and really enjoyed it. Only problem was it started on 1st May 1999. Planes, Trains and Automobiles! Overnight 5 hour train journey from Reno to Salt Lake City, 5 hour kip at airport before boarding a 10am flight, picked up from Heathrow back to folks in Carpenders Park, ticket courtesy of Dad, best ever Wembley trip (I was right in line with Wrighty's goal), meet up in town with surprised friends for a proper session before staggering home vaguely remembering walking over a sea of broken bottles. Had ã2 on a Watford 2-0 win as well! Carlsberg don't do Football weekends..... Oh and hello Cobbler.
I can tell you - having only moved here last year that you don't half miss those home matches every other Saturday when you live beyond reasonable commuting distance
It would have to be a pretty persuasive reason for me to move outside a possible commute (ie 100+miles) or on a fast rail line to the Junction.
Can understand that - for me it was retirement and I could not have afforded a 35 acre farm in the Watford area !!!!
We let local farmers use most of it for their sheep and horses and producing haylage. Sometimes they put cows there. Ourselves we just have a few sheep and a couple of horses and quite a few chickens
Are you renting your land to the local farmers to supplement the pension, Seems an excellent scheme ,income for little effort, Nice one Leo Do you sell the wool from your sheep ,or convert them to meat! Sounds like you have an ace set up down there!
