Lustig, Brown and Wanyama all doubtful for tomorrow. Gershon and Samaras both look to be out (club tweet just says Samaras will train next week). Apparently, we've sent a DVD of the Juve game to UEFA in the name of our old friend "clarification". It won't do any good and I would question the wisdom in even sending them it. Lennon has said "Credit to Hooper for keeping his cool" and he seems to want to blast this "ball out of play" pish. I fancy Rogic to start tomorrow - he's giving out interviews at the press conference today as well. Team might be much like the ICT team with the exception of Rogic and possibly Forrest in place of McGeoch and Ambrose starting at centre half.
i would go similar to last weekend. 3-5-2 if those three are out my midfield would be forrest ledley kayal rogic mcgeoch.
I would be very worried with that midfield, no steady ball winner both Ledley and Kayal can have a tendency to rush forward leaving no protection for back four, Mulgrew would be an option somewhere along the line , maybe instead of McGeoch. Izzy was probably man of the Match on Tuesday night and Matthews has been Probably our best domestic player this year, I think I would play them.
Kayal can be told to hang back and be the ball winner - I hardly think of him bombing forward anyway. Mulgrew or Ambrose can play there if need be but I think Kayal is all the ball winner you need - if he's playing beside Ledley, they're both pretty similar and versatile - it's worked in the past
Agree Bib ... Kayal rarely ventures forward, I'd say Ledley is more likely to get foward. Kayal is pretty defensive.
If the tale of the DVD is correct and we've sent it to UEFA then I think it can only be a good thing. I don't think any are alleging any cheating by the Ref but the tactics Juve empolyed were dismal and it really needs highlighting, someone has to make a stand against that sort of manhandling and if no one else has the balls to complain then I don't mind us doing it.
I am sorry Pud, one thing Kayal often does is to go in so committed to tackle That he often finishes up on the wrong side of the player he is tackling. The Other thing is he often chases the ball when the opposition is passing the ball across the back four, even follows ball going into the goalie. That Leaves a big hole in our midfield especially with the other team on the ball. Ledley is less dangerous but he likes to get into box in open play within Heading range. That is good if other midfielders are manning the midfield.
After Toooosday night and now today it looks like we have the old Emilio back. Ref has given a penalty.... Unfuckingbelievable. Brilliant tackle from Matthews. No **** thought it was a Pen. The Great Wall saves the refs blushes. Jokeshop
Super Joe Ledley. 3-1 Sellick. Really flying here. We could get a few more if we keep this up. Joe is playing great stuff.
