Isn't winning trophies what football is all about? The retort never left the three and a half years you initially mentioned either
Aaahhhhhhh poor old Liverpool, had some nasty men around them & sacked a few managers for being ****e.........oh & spent a mere £180m on players during the period in question........ & that mini-league you're on about, we've got a better chance than your lot, that's a fact p.s. Shouldn't you be getting back to the important business of rep whoring anyway?
The only thing that matters in football? If that's the case then 90% of the clubs in the football pyramid are pointless.......of course football is about more than merely pots. Only glory hunting plastics believe that it's the be all & end all.
Ah, but I didn't say "the only thing that matters", I asked you "isn't winning trophies what football is all about?". You decided to compare our two clubs over the last three and a half years, you guys have gained more points (congratulations) but we have won the League Cup
Of course it's not pointless. Even teams like Bradford and Swansea can put a run together and make a final. Everton's generation of failure is not typical of the rest of the pyramid.
Yes but you are the finished article. A decade of polishing by Moyes, culminating in his greatest ever team and... still nothing to show for it. We are at the start of the rebuilding process and still make more finals in a year than you do in a decade.
Don't talk ****e, if you want, you can make a list of all of the finalists in the domestic cup competitions in the last 20 years & then see what %age of the 90+ league pyramid that represents................ Oh & btw if you're talking finals, we made the 2009 FA Cup Final, you may have missed it, as you were probably only 9.
I know his tennis days are over but I don't think Leighton Hewitt will be able to cut it at football.
Rebuilding process? Suckered in by the PR bullshit of Brenda. You've spent £180m on players in 3 1/2 years, how much more 'rebuilding' is to be done? Oh & btw, of that £180m spend, you only had 4 players that formed part of it, in your starting XI vs WBA, the other 7 have been at Anfield longer than 3 1/2 years............so hardly fledglings..........
You only have to go back a year to count our last 2 finals. You have one in 2009, when was the last one before that?
I'm old enough to remember when you lot made finals regularly, not just every 7 years..........must be gutting for you, seeing as you no doubt became a 'diehard' in May 2005
The following teams have reached cup finals since Everton last won something: Stoke, Portsmouth, Cardiff, West Ham, Millwall, Southampton, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Middlesborough, Birmingham, Tottenham, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, Leicester, Tranmere, Leeds, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton. We will also have Bradford and Swansea in the League Cup final, and maybe also new teams for the FA Cup final. That's at least 25 different teams in 18 years. No excuse for your failure
