Amazing how our fans turn on a player in such a short period. When he signed I would say 98% of Sunderland fans had a semi on. I am the first to admit he has had an indiffernt start to his career with our club but it amazes me how quick some "fans" get on his back.
We all know the kid as talent to burn....so maybe....just maybe....if the fans got behind him, support him....he just might start showing us what we all know he is capable of, and if he did...he would certainly be in any England squad.

I never turned on him I've said he is **** from day one. People's excuses are ridiculous for him ffsake i have heard the excuse that teams mark him. It never bothered gazza chris waddle, magic johnson or sumerbee they simply beat them, this kid has not got the ability. Although to be fair he is an alcoholic like gazza

The fans were right behind him flanders and he repaid us with some truly shocking performances, he does show flashes of brilliance but they are few and far between. I was chuffed when we got him like most of us but, he has to start and do it on the pitch, again it's a two way street mate he performs we support that is it. As for turning on him quickly some have (see NMG) but, a lot are just waiting to see if he proves us all the majority anyway wrong maybe even NMG who knows?
I said on a different thread a couple of weeks ago that he is the player that has disappointed most and, a few asked why, unfortunately in the games after that he has shown why he is a big disappointment.
I'm hoping he is just taking time to settle and luckily for us we are in a position to allow him to do that next season however if he fails to light up the place he will find it hard to even get into the team.
Maybe he has sat on the bench too long at City or, maybe it's his nocturnal habits (rumour I know) either way he needs to sort himself out. As for England not while he's playing **** although playing **** and playing for England tend to go together.

I havnt turned against him! As long as he plays so average in a team which plays so inconsistantly, a team whose tactics dont take advantage of his talent, a team which also has an unfair unfashionable tag against it, then he is always gonna struggle to get back into the England team. He's gone down the pecking order I'm afraid and he and the whole Sunderland team needs to sort itself out before he stands a chance of getting back in! His only chance at the minute is an England injury crisis!

I go back to the days of Nicky summerbee, Alan johnson, Leighton james who got past players and got a good percentage of crosses in EVERY game. If you don't succeed try and try again is the old saying, well in Adam's case he should have a plan a,b and c like Messi, Bale, Ronaldo etc. I miss Malbranque and Zenden, but Sess has taken voer Malbranques role very well.

He's going to have to play bloody well to force his way back into the England squad.

    Let's hope he does.

This, watching Steed last night brought back memories of how technically gifted he was and how at times even he was slated by our fans!

He'll be back next season. he'll have more freedom then, as we'll have a stronger back four and be more of an attacking threat on the break as a result. He'll be given a licence to thrill next season. As for claiming he's a championship player? well your football knowledge is very limited an your other posts about this forum back it up nomoregeordies.

I like Johnson but he is not on form and there are many players now in front of him that's not to say if he hits form and plays the way we all know he can he would force his way back

At the moment and so far 2/3's of the season gone, he looks exactly what the Man City fans are saying about him are right. That he is to lazy, doesn't graft hard enough, very inconsistent and doesn't impact games enough when he starts.

I, like 99% of other supporters was excited and overjoyed when he signed because looking from the outside it seemed he had everything and would definitely fall into the category of "next level player". When you see him constantly over 90mins and not just the best bits highlighted on TV, you see him in a different light. I know it's his first season but settling in shouldn't be an issue, as he is a northern lad.

You also have to hold Marty partly responsible for holding him back with his negative, avoid defeat at all costs tactics. We don't push forward enough or really go for teams, where our forwards would recieve more of the ball and allow him to show what he can really do. If AJ is still the same next season then it will start to show that maybes we have got a bit of a dud with this one. Next season is make or break with certain people at the club. You can't just keep giving people time because of the SAF, Moyes theories. As for everyone of them there's tens of failures. If all 20 clubs in the premier league now retained the current manager for 3 years, would all 20 clubs be in a better place at the end of the 3 years? The answer is a definite no.

I know Marty and AJ have a good history but it doesn't guarantee success here and neither should have an unlimited amount of time.

Saying all that though, my view is, I will be judging come May 2014.

Does this mean that AJ acknowledges that he has in the main, played shyte for SAFC? Perhaps in a roundabout way AJ is telling us that his game will improve for Sunderland?

Maybe he does deserve to be left out. Having said that, once you stop playing for the "big clubs" more so, you start playing for a North East club your England days are gone.

    **** ON THE FLOOR!!

Monty, to say that Adam Johnson should have a plan A, B and C like Messi, Bale and Ronaldo is crazy talk! There's a reason he plays for Sunderland, and if he was anywhere close to the level of those three, he wouldn't be, simple as.

He's a great player (and we know we were all overjoyed when he signed) and he'll come good with time. Form is temporary and all that...

Thank **** for fans like you mate. Well said and totally supported by me.

Sometimes, some of our fans deserve the misery and 50 years of abject failure thay have suffered by their **** attitude at times.
