Oscar Pistorius 'shoots girlfriend'

Local media South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius is being questioned over the fatal shooting of his girlfriend at his home in Pretoria, local media say.

Police captain Sarah Mcira told local media that a woman - who died at the scene - was shot in the head and arm.

The precise circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear. Reports say he may have mistaken her for a burglar.

The 26-year-old was the first double amputee to run in the Olympics.

South Africa has among the highest rates of crime in the world and many residents keep weapons to protect themselves against intruders.

 

Awful story, how do you get over a tragedy like this, such a shame.

 

Indeed. He comes over as such a sensitive soul too. Very sad indeed.

 

He's been charged with murder now

 

Not looking good for the blade runner. Steroids or cheating partner are my guess at whats happened but think he may have run his last race.

 

His legal team have advised him he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

I'm not so sure this " mistook her for a burglar " story has got any legs in it, that said he could stump up for a good lawyer and get off.

The original suggestion it was mistaken identity have been squashed, he is alleged to have shoot her 4 times which will make him hard to defend his case.

Rumour has it its not the first time the police have been called for altercations at his gaff, sad story as he seemed a good guy and everyone like him

 

Supposedly he wasn't that bothard when he got arrested, Word is he even walked into the police station with a spring in his step
