Chris Wood should be available according to Nigel Pearson but other people doubt he will. Even if he is fit I think he will probably be left on the bench if rumours are to believed that he has shin splints. Sean St. Ledger might even make the bench after playing a full 90 for the under 21's. Ben Marshall was suspected of breaking his foot against Peterborough but it turned out he just had a bruised foot. 2 poor performances against Peterborough and Huddersfield leave some players places up for grabs. Mainly who alongside Drinkwater and Nugent. So here is what I would go with Schmeichel De Laet Morgan Keane Konchesky Marshall Drinkwater James Knockaert Nugent Waghorn Subs- Logan, Moore, St. Ledger, King, Dyer, Gallagher, Wood
As a (slight) wildcard! Kasper DL Keane Morgan Konch (though i say Jeff!) Knockaert James DD Marshall/Dyer King/Mashall (where his best form has come from) Nugent.
please log in to view this image Very dependent on who is fit. Lots of interchanging can be done within that (ie Marshall can easily be put in King's/Nugent's/Knockaert's place). I'd push Knockaert and Nugent further forward to better support Wood too. Too radical?
Same as Tuesday. If Pearson thinks that team was good enough to beat Huddersfield then it should be good enough to beat Charlton!
I'd go for this formation if Wood is still out. Nuge in Wood's position and Dyer/Marshall in Nuge's position. Otherwise go back to the team/formation that did so brilliantly in Jan.
Nugent's wasted out wide, so I'd only go for that if Wood's out, and stick Nugent up top. Incidentally, I think lone striker is probably Nugent's best position.
For me, if Wood is fit he plays - because we have to give it our best shot against Charlton and Wood is part of that ... .. if every player is fit then the only change from what I see as our strongest attacking eleven might be to give Liam Moore a game in place of Konch Therefore Kaspar Moore Wes Keane De laet Drinkwater Knockaert King Marshall Nuge Wood Subs: Logan Wellens James Konchesky Dyer Waggy The Tea Lady ... and making the tea, Gally
He did have more pops on goal than Nugent against Huddersfield. Just a shame that they are went well over...
.. really got nothing against the lad ... but Marshall and Knockaert can do all his set piece stuff, but are also mobile and can get corners past the first defender ...
Are we expecting Marshall back? Might be more of a case of Dyer v Gallagher, who, if we could stick in a blender to form one player would probably be work class...
Lloyd has the ability to make the best defenders panic as he is, at times, unplayable ... but delivery and finishing are lacking and he has obvious moments of self-doubt where his head drops etc... Gally can finish but his overall contribution rarely warrants a starting place ... but playing him alongside Wood might actually be an option ...
.. no probs .. IUTBJF is already negotiating a loan deal for Richard III on another thread .. the TL's chance will no doubt come again ...
