Lets do the opposite ! 1 - Ipswich Town! 2- Bundusliga = How it SHOULD be. Cheap tickets massive stadiums great atmospheres. 3- Gio Dos Santos 4- Capello. My favourite manager ever. Fantastic manager. Other players I have LOVED= *Quaresma *Ronaldinho *Riquelme *Aimar
Ipswich Town Premier League - The most exciting and crazy league in the world Bobby Robson Waking up when the alarm goes off and then realising that its a Saturday My Wife My Boys A decent bottle of Scotch
Players I have loved: Ipswich Players : Johnny Wark, Thijssen, Muhren, Hunter, Beattie, Viljoen, Whymark, Stewart Other Players : Zico, Eder, Tostao, Socrates, Bergkamp
As for football clubs, t has to be AFC Wimbledon, for having the balls to start a brand new club from scratch, and to et into the football league (plus I grew up around plough lane and used to go when I was a nipper) Also have a soft spot for Barnet...
ITFC, natch Barnet - me too. Used to play Champ Manager 96/97 and get them to European Cup finals and all that; more fun than the big teams and Ipswich didn't work for some reason Trevor Whymark, Kevin O'Callaghan and Laurie Sivell Emilia Fox Abbot Ale The moment when a cat falls over its own feet for no apparent reason, then tries to walk away all cool-like. The old boy who used to shout "Play the whistle, town!" behind the goal in Churchman's back in the 70's-80's. He didn't know what it meant, and neither did we.
Well what a Surprise! The other thread with all the things we hate is much larger than this one! Is this just a Suffolk thing?
I agree.....definately a Suffolk thing..... For the record My love...ITFC Then wife and kids Then Forest Green Rovers.....(great luminous kit)....great little club...League 2 beckons Oh....how about the 1982 Brazilian side....this has already been mentioned....Eder. the late great Socrates, Junior, Zico, Serginho, Falcao, et al...amazing stuff they played....however they wore yellow....that is off putting......but can forgive them.... Oh and Christmas Pudding....love that....and Christmas Cake.....I could go on....but I wont!
I love Southwold and walking on the beach at Hunstanton on a freezing cold bleak winters day. I love Kirstie Allen when she was in Cheers! Most of all though I love all of my fellow Ipswich posters!
As the other thread was footballing hates i will keep this as footballing loves. The glory of the underdog winning through in the FA cup. That moment when some big club gets drawn away to some team with limited resources, a mainly terraced stadium and who have been sitting no higher than league 2 for the last 50 years and the smaller team either put up a fight or even pull of the win. Lower league fans in general. The last 5 years of being a Town fan has hardly been fun but at least I have witnessed the joys of a european run and the premier league, along with seeing some brilliant players in the flesh both for and against my team. It must take a dedication that I doubt I would have to follow a team that has been in obscurity ever since you started attending matches, Where the game you watch is more sunday morning pub level than the joys of th premiership and where there are only 100 of you in a stand capable of holding several thousand which makes atmosphere difficult to achieve. I have often marvelled at the individual soles who are seen in the away end at lower level matches. It cant happen in many other places in the world. The players who consider their footballing career over their bank balance. Butland being the latest who has said instead of joining the glamour club and not playing he will go to a smaller club, albeit still at a high level where he has a chance to fight for his place. I hate players who will get fed up that their 120k a week is not good enough for them and need to move to someone who will pay an extra 10k a week - its pocket change for them so is pathetic. Sir Bobby Robson - Not only a wonderful football manager but a thoroughly decent guy and a gentleman. He had real morales and it was shown on many occassions. There is not one aspect of his character that I have found a flaw with.
