Ryan Williams is going on loan to Gillingham (a few bridges mended or forgotten there).

"Sky Sports understands Gillingham have agreed a deal with Fulham for Australian winger Ryan Williams. The highly-rated 19-year-old joined the Cottagers last year - when they paid Portsmouth more than £250,000 for his signature.

The Australian youth international is yet to play for Fulham and they are now sending him to the Priestfield Stadium to gain some first-team experience.

Gillingham are expected to confirm his capture on Thursday with a view to him making his debut against Dagenham & Redbridge at the weekend.

Williams, is the younger brother of Middlesbrough captain Rhys and also has a twin brother, Aryn, who is playing for Burnley"

Thanks Cottager. I didn't know about his brothers (or if I did, I'd forgotten). Another youngster getting first team experience - it can only be good, even if Portsmouth are having a torrid time of it right now.

Blimey, I dunno what's wrong with me today. Cheers, Bidley. That's even better, because they're doing really well at the moment!

A good move for Ryan and us, but i do wish the loan deal was for a longer period.

I wonder if the one month loan is a compromise over us wanting a guarantee that they will play?

Instead of us getting a guarantee that our player will actually get first team exposure (that being the only point of the loan from our perspective), we have the option to get them back after a month and if they are not playing we can send them off to another team that actually will play them. However if the player does get sufficient first team exposure we just extend the loan until the end of the season.

Two of the lads were on duty last night -

David Stockdale and Hull City closed the gap on league leaders Cardiff City to five points with a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in the npower Championship. Stockdale played the full 90 minutes as Egyptian duo Gedo and Ahmed Elmohamady both struck to secure the three points.

The victory keeps Hull in second place in the table, with leaders Cardiff losing 2-0 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion. The Tigers are away to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday (3pm).

Also, in the Blue Square Bet South, Tom Donegan and Farnborough were beaten 2-0 at Welling United.

Farnborough, who are eighth in the table, host struggling Eastbourne Borough on Saturday (3pm).

David Stockdale is getting a fait bit of praise 'oop north' following Hull's win over the more illustrious Blackburn on Tuesday night. The Yorkshire Post had this to say :

"David Stockdale, back at the KC Stadium after initially being recalled by parent club Fulham in December, has played a leading part in Hull’s new defensive solidity with his calm handling giving confidence to his team-mates."

And making the point that Hull's only recent defeat was when David had his little spell back at the Cottage in January. Here is the full article -

Rosc's favourite goalkeeper, Jesse Joronen, has gone on a month's loan to Cambridge United.

"Cambridge have signed 19-year-old goalkeeper Jesse Joronen on a month`s loan from Barclays Premier League side Fulham.

Joronen, who stands 6`4”, joined the Cottagers in 2010 and has been widely tipped to make a big impact at the London club by goalkeeping coach Vic Bettinelli and former Fulham favourite and fellow Fin Antti Niemi."

Jesse Joronen has left Cambridge United as quickly as he arrived.

It was announced on Friday that the 19-year-old keeper had joined on a month-long loan, having previously spent time at Maidenhead in the Blue Square South earlier this season.

But he has already returned to Craven Cottage after refusing to be a substitute in Cambridge's match against Hereford, which they ended up losing 3-1.

Fully endorse his comments, the clubs coaching staff must have seen his potential
    before they signed him.

Interesting. Question is was he being a prima donna, which clearly doesn't bode well for the future, or did he genuinely think he was going to play and it was a complete cock-up in administration terms with the wrong messages being sent, in which case I can accept that the reality wasn't what he had been sold and he was entitled to baulk (although watching 1 game would hardly be the end of his world).

The worry is that we don't need a 19 year old with attitude no matter how good he is. Team harmony is more important than having a sulky teenager knocking around the place.

    I'm on the fence here.

I don't see the point in a player being on loan at a club for a month and starting on the bench, an absolute waste of time. Keepers very rarely ever come off the bench in games so him making sub appearances can be ruled out. However, goalkeepers are paid to follow orders and if his order was to be on the bench (maybe only for the first game, lacking match fitness etc) then he should have complied.

I know I am a fan of JJ,who is a regular in the Finnish under 21 side, and has gained a full
cap for his country, and when loaned out, to, not even get on the subs, bench of a non league
club. "Come on " I dont think this has anything to do with ego, who with pride and confidence in
themselves would want to stay around, in this situation.

The impression you get from the Cambridge manager was that he was only going to sit one game out to get a feel for things.
