OT - St Valentines Day

Happy Valentines day to you all.

So... what is your view on the meaning of today?

Personally I think it is a marketeers dream in that a whole industry has grown up around the day.
It annoys me that florists jack up their prices in advance of today. Me... well I have an agreement with my lady that I buy the roses cheap the day after when prices tumble..... tight I know

So though... see it as a way to express their undying love for one another....

It's a load of ****ing bollocks. Luckily my Mrs is happy with going to see Die Hard (she creams over Bruce Willis) and making pulled pork.

 

For me it's usually a bunch of flowers for the mrs and an excuse not to cook!

So tonight's plan is:

- Put baby to bed
- Order takeaway in time to arrive before Kick Off
- Sit down with the Mrs and watch the game

Before i left this morning she asked a question that i'm sure many other women have asked to their toon loving fella's....................."Is Yohan playing tonight!"

 

Tell her to join the forum, we ladies have our little Debuchy/Cabaye appreciation society, one or two of the men have joined.....

Well, something that sounds like witty.

Actually if it hadn't been for the fact that I couldn't get down on one knee (the old bones you know) I would have.

 

Not for me, its got out of hand in recent years. The old style of a rose and a message or card was fine but all this ****e you see in the shops now has somewhat diluted the meaning. The price of cards, flowers tells you its just a money making scam now. Nothing against it though, especially those who are into old style romance.

Me and the missus don't bother though! Was handy this year!

 

Like everything else, it's far too commercial. Just an excuse for the big boys to make money out of you.

Am I cynical, or is that absolute genius...? Less dates to remember and less presents

My brother specifically took his ex-girlfriend out on Valentines day for their first date, just so the "anniversaries" would be rolled into it. He then asked me when I started dating DT, and I had to admit it was the 29th of January... Obviously didn't get the brains, or the thriftiness, in the family
