I don't get people voting for Ramirez. I haven't seen much yet to suggest how great he is. I know he's had some injury problems but when he does play he seems to lose the ball too often for my liking. He looks like he ought to be classy but isn't........yet!

He's been struggling to get into the rhythm of games lately but it's very obvious how much ability he has.

Same here. Went for the Rickster, but have no problem with Morgan getting it.

There are players who are more technically gifted: Lallana, Ramirez, Rodriguez; there are players who are more effective in breaking up attacks: Cork, Schneiderlin, Yoshida, Shaw; but there is only one talismanic figure who embodies the spirit that has existed at Southampton since August 2009, and that is Rickie Lambert.

Depends what you mean by best, obviously. Lallana stands out a mile as our most naturally talented, creative player, the one most likely to produce that flash of brilliance that on it's own justifies the cost of admission to the ground. On the other hand, Spiderman's often unsung contribution may be of greater value to the team. And without Rickie's goals we might still be struggling to get out of League 1.

Ultimately it's a team game so it's impossible really to pick one player above all the others. But while there's no "I" in team, there are 3 "L"s in Lallana, so I'll back him to spend the rest of the season reminding us of what we've missed since he got injured.

Went for Morgan as he seems to have elevated himself to superman status this season.

Rickie Lambert for me. And I'm starting to think Boruc might be second. And Luke Shaw might take over the mantle as early as next season.

Lallana and Schneiderlin are #2 and #3. Then Ramirez (though he too could move to #1 in a hurry), Cork and Shaw. Everyone else on the team I like because they are decent enough and play well within the team. But they could in theory be replaced without too much difficulty though there in most cases there is no pressing reason to do so.

This poll, when contrasted with general public opinion, paints an interesting picture. From my experience, the general majority have never heard of Morgan Schneiderlin, and if they have know nothing of his game, and think Rickie is this year's Grant Holt. Absurd, isn't it?

Schneiderlin's getting noticed, he's always praised on MOTD and so on when we are featured. Deservedly so too, though people on here tend to think he can do no wrong, and the poll pretty much confirms that!

Personally I think Cork's been at least as good lately.

Best player = Ramirez, but he hasn't played his best yet. Best performing player = Lambert so i'll choose him.

My gut instinct was to say Morgan. But how can you vote against SRL? And then I think of the upturn in results from the point when Jack Cork returned to the side and Luke Shaw won his place in the team. Then there is the extra skills that Ads & Gaston bring to the party! I'm glad this poll is just for fun and no-ones future depends on it. However today I choose.......MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN, for his consistency and boundless energy in controlling the all-important midfield battles.

I put Lambert down on this poll, although if I had to vote for my Saints Player of the Season right now, I'd choose Schneiderlin.

There is just no way I can vote on this. Too many are very good and too many are important to the team. How can I judge between Morgan, Lambert and Lallana, they offer so much but so differently. Corkie has been fantastic, I have always said Steve Davis is fantastic at doing what we ask him to do for the team.

    Too difficult for me.

Off to find some cream for these splinters in my arse!
