According to different media sources Gillingham fc are today due to sign teenage winger and under 20 Australian international Ryan Williams on loan from Premiership club Fulham, the 19 year old brought from Portsmouth for £300,000 in jan 2012 will be available to play vs Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.

maybe we can try and bring his Fulham and Aussie team-mate 20 year old forward Corey Gameiro in as well to have a positive effect on our squad all round if not already out on loan. <ok>

Good work Gills4ever! Nice to have another winger at the club! And Ryan's father was born in Kent

He appears to offer something different and something attacking, which is good. On the other hand we have to appreciate how inexperienced he is. Less games than, say, Bradley Dack.

One of my major gripes is that in midfield we have been too narrow and the new signing addresses this, as in he is a winger. In respect in Dack I though he was a more cenral midfielder and hance wouldn't solve the problem

Gillingham can confirm that Fulham winger Ryan Williams has signed for the club on a 28-day loan deal with an option to extend. #gills

Oh come on Lenny, I know you can feel the love and are a romantic person as such. This is MA's gift to me on Valentine's Day. MadDog has listened and delivered with his heart to me :emoticon-0115-inlov

surely the fact that its not our youth players being given a chance means its not a present brb? or did you just want to see some younger legs on the pitch for gills? :p

Shhh, Lenny is watching my every word - lol

More seriously though, yes, I agree. Back to my original points in the youth v experience thread and using Jack Payne as the example. He has gone to Posh a Championship side. Yet, then he brings in loan signings. So where does this fit into the so called scenario of building for League One. How long we got to discuss this vicious circle. As you know my views are clear without me going over old ground.

However, I have to accept a small appeasement in that I favour pace players, particularly wingers. Also at 19 a young player with fresh legs and from what I have read the energy as well. I welcome his move short term and look forward to seeing him on Saturday. Long term all I can say is MadDog & Lenny I'm watching.

Think this is a good signing, what we need really as he is young and he is from the premiership which is what we should be doing.

What is going on brb? A 19 and a 20 year old on the same day. MA is listening to you after all.

It is about time we started signing these young players, it is win win for us, cheap, if they fail then they go back if they do well we are happy and then with a lot of them they get released and then we may have a chance of signing a good young player, look at some of them that have been released and come back doing well. I think that these two signings are brilliant and I start them both Saturday.

Hello HOADIE_BOI ! Ryan Williams played a few times in Pompey's first team when he was 17, and looked a very good player in the making - terrific pace and a lot of ability.

We had to let him go because of the start of our financial problems, thanks to our succession of "dodgy owners".

Think he will do well for you <ok>

Thanks for that, good to hear that, only heard good things about him so hopefully he should have a lot to say about him after this spell.

<laugh> given me a smile today. Looking forward to see them Saturday if it they start. Be really interested to see the new winger. Just wondering how this is going to affect Weston, is it going to affect his free movement of role I wonder - probably.

I'm a fan of using two wingers in the side. BSG has said earlier, that we are too narrow in our play, and I agree. I don't see any problem for Weston. He should be able to continue in his role - be it on the wing or reverting to playing in the middle. The wingers can change sides to mix up things a bit. I would like to think that the opposition won't have the luxury of doubling up on Weston as they do now - there will be Williams for them to contend with. If the opposition do double up on both wingers, this would create room in the centre of midfield !! Two wide players will allow us to spread and stretch the play, into areas that will, hopefully find Weston or Williams with a bit of room to run with the ball. At the moment our 'narrowness' is getting shut down too quickly.
