Lying here in bed dosed with a bout of 'man flu'. It's shocking. Women will never understand how serious man flu is and the attention and loving we men need to recover (if at all)

After pleasant dreams about all thinks women, I eventually started thinking about my beloved QPR. I guess it's never too far from any of our minds especially with the fight of our lives ahead to somehow miraculously avoid relegation.

I couldn't help thinking about our current chairmen and owners. WOW. Despite our ongoing problems on the field, they really have revolutionised our small club in just a matter of years.

Without having the patience (man flu) to check. I think we were either the first or one of the first clubs in administration. Fook, we have come along way from then. 15 odd years out of the Prem and all the wealth it generates has really left our club light years behind so many other clubs in terms of stadium, training facilities, players etc etc. When you look at the championship, it's littered with teams that spent at least a few years in the Prem and benefited from the substantial cash injections that came with it. It's not that many years ago that we had our supporters paying the wages of some of our players.
There is no doubt that Tango & Cash bled the club dry. They had no real loyalty or interest in our club and IMO they got extremely lucky with our promotion. The fact that they sold as quickly as they did showed their only interest was money.

Look at the last three years alone. How many managers have we had? How many players have come and gone? There's no doubt in my mind that we were lost as a club. The very soul of our club was for sale.
Fast forward a few years then. we are languishing at the bottom of the league with nobody giving us a chance and even many on here (myself included) are resigned to relegation. Considering our recent history is anybody surprised? We are QPR after all and we don't do easy. I have stated this before and I stand by my comments. We were not ready as a club for promotion. Everything we have done since, reinforces that in my mind. Too many decisions were knee jerk. We never got a chance to actually build a champ winning team. We struck gold with Colin and he performed a miracle. I hope and pray we can turn a corner and at least go down kicking. Our fans deserve that. However, we have to ask our selves the question, were we happy to go up knowing we weren't prepared and knowing that we had a fight ahead? The answer has to be yes of course. DT is right, in that we must enjoy the last few games. Difficult I know given the circumstances that we are in.
Lets look at the positives. We have seen top players come to HQ for the first time in two decades. In your wildest dreams did you ever see us in a position to spend 12 million on a player? Our owners for the first time EVER are wealthy beyond comprehension. We will soon turn the sod on world class training facilities. A new stadium is in the design stage. We have one of the most astute and popular coaches in the Prem. okay, our players have under-performed all season but we see our club which once was in administration playing Man Utd, Chelsea, City etc at our HQ every odd weekend. How bad is that!!!!
Everybody knows that sometimes you have to take a step back to take two forward. If our step back is relegation for a year or two, how bad.
It's better to have loved and lost than never loved at all. Careful planning and proper construction of our team along with applying lessons learned, will see us right in the medium and long term.
Lets see out the next few months with dignity. Other fans can't understand what we have been though to to get to where we are. I say to them, beware of the green eyed monster, for when we come back, we will come back bigger and stronger and kick your little ass.

Tomorrow is valentines. Don't forgot lads and lasses. I won't be my usual stallion self but sh**e happens. Wifey gave me an ultimatum today. I can go to both the Sunderland and Newcastle games on a day trip or spend the weekend in London for the Newcastle game only. Tough decision.

Great post Nuts. We have indeed come a long way, and although the immediate future looks grim, things could be MUCH worse. Glad to read a well written piece with no infighting and some hope given for a bright future. Get well soon... I've suffered from severe man flu in the past and also got NO sympathy so I feel your pain!

Wishing you a speedy recovery Nuts.

My, if you can write like that when you're under the weather, then a lot more great posts to look forward to.

Some great thoughts, particularly noticing that despite "punching above our weight" we have hopefully learnt our lessons the hard way. Good to see someone credit TF and the Mittals for what they've done & how we can look forward to dishing out a few spankings in the next couple of years.

Be interesting to see how many of the current squad will stick with us for the great return.

What a load of **** we are doomed

Seriously excellent post and yes it really important to take stock of where we are now regardless of where we find ourselves . We are so lucky

My mate lad who plays for Brighton ran the show as they beat us 3-1 in the reserves this week ... He reckons regardless it seems our club is buzzing and people in the club want success

The people running our club are good people we should be proud of that

    We will do this

Good post Nuts. Sorry about the cold.

Happy to be the new 'boing boing' club if we end up where West Brom are now.

Good post Nutso.....amazing how things can be alot clearer when we have time to think about things instead off just hitting the keyboard to have a rant after the latest fiasco.

Have a hot whiskey, spoon of sugar, drop of honey and a few cloves......might not cure the manflu...but it tastes bloody good!!!!!

Hope you are better soon Nuts...I am sure you have real flu and not man-flu...loads of liquids and keep warm

Great post though, although I am slightly worried about hallucinations with a high fever. Que sera sera, enjoy the rest of the season, never know what will happen...and if it is true the club is not spending as much as we think, things will be OK in the future....but as long as we are still here...the club will grow.

    Get well soon

High fever? Paracetamol and if it remains dangerously high cool bath and eventually 999.

Cheers Beth, I'm resigned to relegation this season but still think the bigger picture looks good. In many ways the next 12 months may shape our club for the next decade.

Too right. Hasn't been a happy time these last couple of years. Onwards and upwards.

Seriously though be careful if the temperature goes high. Paracetamol is best for that. Get well soon :)
