I noticed we are 88th, surely that must be a world record(or at least european record as it is UEFA) for a 4th tier club?<party>

Why does there need to be 'criteria'. We can all see with our own eyes that Celtic arent a top 16 side whenever we watch them play. We can see Manchester City are better with our own eyes.

Uefa's criteria... You mean holding a competition to find the best team in Europe?

To sum up 5 pages - if your team gets through to the knock out stages of the CL they're one of the top 16 clubs in europe.

If someone else's team gets into the knock out stages of the CL they're not necessarily in the best 16 as there could be other criteria to decide it.

That's the way i'd be arguing it anyway but I donlt think i'll ever have to worry about it.....

The Top 16 in Europe is subjective Dan, I don't think for a minute that Celtic are better than Man City, but they achieved something city did not so the bragging rights are Celtic's if comparisions are to be made.

I have little doubt that the 8 Men's 100 metres finalists are NOT the fastest 8 men in the world, but they can all claim to be by rights.

Celtic are better than Ipswich. They are prem league standard, just about but theyd scrap in the lower half. I would say a decent comparison would be Wigan.

Both get in some OK players, not world class but OK (i.e. wayama, valencia, n zogbia, hooper etc) before they move on to a bigger club. I think th etwo would be evenly matched altho Wigan player more attractive football.

Given time in the english leaague though and Celtic (and Rangers) would become far better and challenge for top 4 imo, theyve got the fan base and if they were playing in england league they d be able to attract better players. They are never gonna be as big as Man Utd but they could certainly improve. Its a no brainer, surely you Celtic fans want to move to our leage at all costs?

Why do you think that? Celtic are a Scottish Club, they should play in Scotland, I think you'll find most (if not all) the Tims on this board agree, I know this because it's been discussed as nauseum.

Well in that case, yu will have to accept you are never going to become a big club again, never challenge for europe and will have to play in an uninteresting, uncompetitve league. Seems mad to me that you wouldnt want to challenge yourselves and improve. Swansea and Cardiff do it and you are a wayyy bigger club than them so could push on. I think Celtic should be campaigning to sort it. Youd have the chance to attract better players and everyy week you'd have an exciting competitve game of football to watch!

Dont think im having a go at celtic, i have no strong opinion (like or dislike) of them, although I admit Ive always preffered Rangers of the two. The only clubs I hate are - Ipswich, local rivals cant want them to win. Liverpool, pure scum. Arsenal, idiot fans, pretentious, arrogant, lame club. Stoke, if they are the televised match I miss out on watching a good game of football

    14, 15 or more?

Playing in the Premiership is no guarantee of anything FACT

Those 14 or 15 prem sides, dont have the fan base or potential that Celtic do! The only thing holding Celtic back is the league they play in! No ambitous, great players want to play in your league. Its no interest to sponsors either for big bucks. Whilst you are in that league this is it for you. The best you can hope for is to scrape it throught to the knockout round once in a while. If you were in the EPL you would have hope, you could push on. You have the potential to be top 4 in England and attract better players. You have a huge fanbase and youre wasting it. Oh well, your loss

No one wants us in the EPL do they? Your point is therefore moot, Celtic like my good self are unconcerned about matters in which they are powerless.

IF we got an invite then maybe we would consider, in fact Celtic would probably bite your hand off for a place in the EPL, but it's not going to happen is it? As I said, I can live with that.

YOu are not even trying to create a debate and fight for it though. Cardiff managed it, why couldnt you? MAybe you wont be allowed but you should at least try. Same goes for Rangers, perfect time for them. They are at the bottom anyway so they may as well try and get in our bottom tier. Im sure with their fan base they could get to the top reasonably quickly
