Not forgetting though OLM, Proschwitz scored twice in 2 cup games against league one opposition, and Simpson started in both those games also.
I think they both worked well together. I think we'll see the best of Gedo when all three Egyptians are on the field. Proschwitz looked lively; he missed a sitter but Simpson wouldn't even have been in that position. That said, I'd say Simmo made more of an impact. About 20 mins in, he suddenly remembered how to track back and made some good attempts to win the ball. Proschwitz looks like more of a natural finisher, so I'd probably start with him. Anybody else read the profile form in the program that Prosch filled in? Under "Best part of your game" he put "goal scoring".
Not read all the thread yet so someone else may have responded in the same way, instead of responding with tit for tat bollocks how about judging each player based on the number of goals he's scored divided by his minutes on the pitch, I think you'll find that Prossie comes out on top. Had Prossie had the luxury of the game time that Simmo has had I would think he would have eased himself in by now and be scoring goals. Of course, I too, could be talking bollocks
Gedo and Aluko when he's fit. Proschwitz is awfull, Simpson works hard but never looks like scoring. Koren is a midfielder. I think the 3.5.2 formation is history, it's stopped working. I think Gedo and Koren on Saturday, bring Simpson on if it's not working.
we've been waiting for Proschwitz to improve all season. It hasn't happened. Maybe he is ****e ? Gedo improves after one match ! Says it all !
Source of the minutes is questionable but transfermarkt has it down as Nick having played 705 championship minutes scoring 2 goals so 352 minutes 30 seconds a goal Simpson having played 1918 championship minutes scoring 5, 383 minutes 40 seconds a goal A lot of Simpsons appearances were consecutive as well, while Nick has had to settle for a large amount of sub appearances with starts scattered randomly across the season. Given a run of games I still believe Nick could be a quality goal scorer for us but we don't have the time to give him the games while chasing promotion.
Cheers Tiger. As I thought, as much as he has shown far from his best at the moment he has STILL been more effective than Simmo!
Sorry, but it's too early to judge Gedo. Good start with the goal and his enthusiasm and work rate, but he also gave the ball away a lot. Proschwitz I feel a little sorry for. He hasn't been given a run of games in which to improve. That's just the situation tho, as Bruce, with his remit, hasn't got the luxury of letting Proschwitz settle in. For me Proschwitz and Gedo are the same player. I was shocked to see them both come on at half time as surely you always need a Simpson to hold the ball up and lay it off to the "Number 10" or the advancing midfielders. Surely Gedo will start with Simpson in the next game, which will be a bigger test for the Egyptian.
Proshwitz is trying too hard, we still looked more potent and likely to score with him on than Jay. I think they're both ok players who could do better, but Gedo did look a class above with his confidence and first touch. His goal was also a difficult chance he made look easy. Obviously Aluko & Gedo are the classiest players, but for the time being try Proshwitz. I'm looking forward to seeing Fathi now!
If Gedo's fitness allows him to complete 60-70mins on saturday then start him alongside Proschwitz up front and put Koren back in the hole just behind the front 2. That is where you get the best out of Koren imo. We need to rotate certain players with all the games that have been played of late and for me Fathi has to be kept for tuesdays game with Blackburn. Danny Murphy needs taking care of for starters.
Having seen every home game this year, what are the thoughts behind playing Simpson in midfield. Every time I have seen him play he is tough, wiry, balanced, strong on the ball, good in the air and last night he showed he can tackle like a terrier. Why not play him CM with Elmo, Quinn and Myler, with Koren behind Geddo? Retain the goal threat (steady) and the opportunity to rotate Pros / Aluko, when fit, and a 532 or 442 formation whenever the game requires a change.....
god i hope aluko gets back quick , failing that prossy gets my vote simpson is dreadful , what good is a forward who hasnt scored for 17 games ????
first of all i don't think Gedo give the ball away a lot but agree its early days but i so enough in is play to realise he is a decent player plus i liked is aggression. Has for Prozzy i thought he grew into the game but for such a big man he got knocked off the ball to easy and didn't win enough flick ons with his head. For me it would be Gedo and Simpson simply because of the work rate and runs it would provide.
IMO they had to show something better than Koren and Simpson. Koren wasn't up for it and Simmo despite all his hard work and effort just wasn't getting in the right positions. I guess the fact that Gedo was making his home debut and had to put a shift in maybe helped Prozzy abit,But he didn't show enough again IMO. One of the messages after the game on RH made me laugh "For You Mr Proschwitz, The campaign is over". Personally I'd start him and Gedo (If Fit) on saturday, and just see what they can do.
I'm biased due to my German roots, but I really don't think Nick has had the opportunity to do well. He's made 15 sub appearances of 20-10 mins and one of 45 mins. And he was left on the bench for about 4 games in a row with no activity. Its not a way to settle a player. I've said this before, the goals he's scored are quality and you don't have that sort of quality (regardless of who the opponents are) and not be able to perform. Ironically, I think Prozzy is the type of player that would do well in the EPL (yes I am prepared for getting slated). Then again, I could be talking bollocks too!
Gedo & Aluko have the POTENTIAL to be EPL players Simpson doesn't Proschwitz, well I just doubt it now..
