That is not at all what he said. Rodgers on fourth? ****, Rodgers said we could get 2nd at one point! I like the optimism but get a decent run going before going off. Too many dropped points from winning positions has cost us. Then you look at United who have got all the points from losing positions and there is that massive difference.

As drama queen reactions go yours isn't far off anything on here. It's easy (and lazy) to pick a couple of posts per thread and say "look at the suicide reactions" of ALL fans. Well actually, most posts have been pissed off but pretty reasonable and considered. There really is a "happy medium" from lots of fans if you bother to read.

However...we are football fans and passion is part and parcel of that (thankfully). You seem surprised that people express strong opinions about their club. Frankly that makes me wonder why you'd bother with football at all <ok> Football without emotion is like sex without a woman....it's ****...or a bit gay.

Dunno about you Billy but my ****s always have a fair bit of passion about them. So you have:

    Football

    Sex (with a woman)

Sex (with a man) Eric always sounds plenty excited!

    My ****s

    Our not606 outbursts

If your ****s have more passion than our outbursts you must have a hand like Kenny Everett <ok>

It's a good list...you could put Rafas goal celebrations right at the bottom <laugh>

To sum up this article it basically says, stfu to anyone questioning BR and says that his own opinion is right, and those with a different opinion are talking bollocks, and the reason his opinion is more worthy is because he spends 1700 quid each season. I disagree with him to be honest. I am not even saying we should sack BR, however there are those of us that questioned his appointment right from the off, and who for whatever reason think BR is a showman, salesman or whatever other name you care to choose. Some of us just have the intuition that Rodgers will never take us to the level we want to achieve, what are these kind of fans supposed to do? Keep silent and wait 3 or 4 years for the chance to say I told you so?

I know that the article was probably aimed at the 'over-reactors' but whilst I don't say we should ditch BR just yet, I don't condemn those that do. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one, and they are entitled to them. People are entitled to be idiots too. The only thing though that should count when considering Rodger's position is have we made progress, for me I am not sure we have!

I'm not sure we've made progress either Shanks but for me (and I think for the writer of the blog) this is about timescales. Do we really only give our managers half a dozen months to get the job right nowadays? It's fine to criticise his mistakes that's part and parcel of being a manager but maybe what a young fella making his way in the game needs is some moral support from us lot. Maybe what he could do with (and what the team could do with at times) is for the modern Liverpool fan to actually make some noise when they go to the game because I for one am pig sick of the lack of atmosphere at the ground these days. Whatever happened to the crowd being worth a goal head start eh?

Personally I don't think the manager should be held entirely accountable for Mondays result. How does any manager plan for a game where 3 of his 4 defenders have probably their worst performances all season? How does he plan for his skipper missing a pen and his twenty goal striker looking like a pub player? Granted his selection of Shelvey was poor and our total ineptness from set pieces can be pinned on him but then I'd argue we've always been pretty rubbish from set pieces. Jesus we even had a fanzine called Another Wasted Corner <laugh>

As for the showman bit you may well be right but I could name plenty of great managers who are/were great showmen. Maureen is the classic modern example. Fergie himself has admitted he isn't the worlds greatest coach or tactician.

BR is media savvy in my opinion. We're in a day and age where the media is on your case 24/7 and we need people who can speak well and BR does that.

We're not in a position where we can dismiss the media like we used to.

Great post as ever Billy! You are right, and I am certainly not advocating sacking BR at all. Whilst he was not my choice and I still believe he is making too big a step up in one go, he needs more time. There are a lot of things you can question about him since he took over in my opinion, but he needs at least until the end of the season and then I personally believe we DO need to at least take stock of where we are and IF we have made improvements. You do though have to wonder how much the players were 'pacing' themselves for the games coming up. Seems strange that so many had off games all at once after a couple of really good games.

I really don't see any improvement on last season, however we have to wait til the season ends to really rate that. The worrying thing for me is that BR was supposed to be the best up and coming manager out there. Yet this season we have seen AVB do a fantastic job at 1 man Spurs, Laudrup do incredible both in results and signings, and even our old coach Clarke sits above us in the table in his first season in management. Whilst its no way to judge BR, it does provide a context in which to judge his achievements.

Nope sorry disagree. To question BR after one season is ridiculous given what he inherited and the magnitude of the changes required. And whilst it is obvious everyone is entitled to an opinion if you call yourself a fan of LFC then I do believe that title comes with a responsibility to buckle up for the ride and get behind the team, manager and vision (yes even if you are not convinced) there are too many so called supporters who are quick to criticise after a poor showing - it undermines the club and as I posted earlier is frankly embarrassing. Those type of fans don't deserve to celebrate when we are successful as they don't support the club through thick and thin. Do I agree with everything I see at LFC? No. Am I 100% convinced we have the right mgr, owners and ethos? No. Do I jump on my keyboard after every poor display to criticise ? No - because I SUPPORT the club.

He inherited a side that finished 8th in the league, won a cup & got to the FA Cup final, having spent over £120m on players in the previous 18 months. He's subsequently spent a further £40m, making Liverpool the 3rd highest spenders this season & yet in spite of this massive player investment, both under his tenure & the prior incumbent - you're seemingly expecting nothing of him & making out he'd taken over a club that was dying on it's arse.

Whilst I admire your willingness to give the guy time, to get it right, to basically question the right of those who are questioning the man's strategy, tactical nouse or ability, is wrong, as reds who are now doing that, have every right to, as he's achieved less than the last manager earned the sack for, so far. He's spun the need for time for his 'system' to develop imo, as when you take a job like that, with the resources that come with it, then the pressure starts from day 1 & there should always be a requirement to improve on what went before.

Yes - he did spend £40m but he was also forced to get rid of key experienced players and reduce the wage bill - Aquilani, Joe Cole, Charlie Adam, Kuyt, Maxi and Bellamy to name a few (not all were key but all were experienced).

I will argue that I expected more quality from the £40m - spending £25m alone on Borini and Allen is a lot of money and we've not seen a return on it just yet but I'm willing to give him time.

He then spent another £20m on Sturridge and Coutinho but they have only just arrived at the club so who knows how they will perform? Truth is we don't know so that's why I will give them time to prove themselves rather than say £40m has been 'wasted'.
