Chris Wood ‏@officialcwood Just to put all these rumours straight.. I haven't fallen out with the gaffa! I took a knock in training. Doing all I can to get back fit! So let's stop **** stirring and get behind the team FFS
How come there are always rumours that players fall out with Pearson, maybe he has lost the dressing room, maybe he has fallen out with some of the players, hence the recent slump!
If he wasn't such an arse in interviews, I suspect these rumours wouldn't start in the first place, he does himself no favours.
Indeed. Maybe Bruce can give him some lessons: 1.How to become a better football manager. 2. How to do an interview. 3. How to break his nose. 4. How to become fat.
The rumours obviously started because he has pedigree (Mills, St Ledger, Beckford - probably, even Stringer!) but they're really not helpful. Probably started by Major Fox...
I think OLM is about right on this - I heard the BBC interview when Pearson was asked about Chris Wood's injury and he gave the impression that it was the sort of question that he shouldn't be asked so his approach to answering it was rather evasive. That sort of approach tends to breed rumours which are often way off the mark. He may feel that there is some tactical advantage in not revealing details but he should also appreciate that the fans, who go a long way to paying his wages, are genuinely interested. I think that he is a good manager and did a good job for us but one of his big problems was communication with the media and supporters - he often gave the impression that things were "none of our business".
Stringer or Pearson? They're as bad as each other, they just annoy each other and they shouldn't be allowed to talk together. Stringer asks the most stupid of questions a lot of times (although this one is valid).
It's not Stringer's fault, he was exactly the same with our man Burnsy when he was with us, he's just obnoxious in interviews.
Our football programme has won numerous awards over the years. One of the features used to be 'On the Treatment Table', and indicated who was recovering from knocks, extent of injury, and sometimes the expected return date. It disappeared from the programme. Shame, cos it regularly featured Ian Marshall and his numerous injuries. Was an interesting read and kept the fans informed. Not sure what all the secrecy is about these days. If opposing clubs want to find out who is fit etc, then they will. All they have to do is read twitter or not 606 (other forums are available).
In all fairness, Burns is hardly the greatest journalist you've ever met Just wait till he's on Match of the Day next season
I really couldnt care how Nigel is in interviews. If you dont like them dont listen to them. We had clowns like Holloway give very good interesting interviews but gave us **** football and **** results
Of course not, well yes! If he is a football/radio commentator, then he's hardly a journalist is he!?
Very true. I think if we're honest OLM is possibly right on this. Pearson refusing to answer questions directly will cause people to question what's really going on. I don't really know why Pearson acts cagey around some issues but, if that's the way he operates, then so be it as long as he takes us where we need to be. This and the whole "boring interviewee" tag (which is a contradiction to me - how can snapping at Stringer all the time - and apparently the Hull interviewer before him - be deemed as boring?!) are superficial elements and of little importance.
