From today's Metro Newcastle United are eyeing up deals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Isimat-Mirin with the club confirming plans to raid the French market again in the summer. The Magpies have strong links with several French clubs, having bought the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa and Romain Amalfitano from across in the channel in recent years, while all five of their January signings came from Ligue 1. But despite having nine of their 25-man squad being made up of French-based buys, deals for Saint-Etienne striker Aubameyang and Valenciennes defender Isimat-Mirin are on the cards. The news comes with managing director Derek Llambias confirming the club will buy from France again in the summer, with unfinished business remaining. âThere are still targets in France,â said Llambias. âWe havenât finished with the French market. We want to expand in Europe. Weâll be moving around Europe: we already do.â Striker Aubameyang is believed to be the main target Llambias is talking about, with the hitman subject of a reported failed £8million bid on transfer deadline day. But Newcastle will try again to land him in the summer, along with exciting centre-back Isimat-Mirin, who is also a target for Liverpool. Newcastle are also said to have long-term interest in PSVâs Georginio Wijnaldum, although a deal has never been discussed. So, a striker, centre half and attacking midfield already identified? If these go ahead, I can see it signalling some outgoing activity.
I fear Colo will be off in the summer. And we're still a striker short, especially with Cisse misfiring like he is.
Is he that young lad with all the technical ability and the dribbling you really like Cove? A centre-half and a striker will do me, with only Colo outgoing that would represent another brilliant window
I don't think it means alot of first XI players coming in or out, more replacements and cover players. Colo will go as far as I'm concerned and his replacement (Sakho) should be top of our list. Then a striker to compliment/rotate with Cisse. After these, young replacements for deadwood/players who aren't good enough, e.g. Gosling, Ranger, Obertan, Willo. Also players like Sammy Ameobi, Amalfitano, Abeid, Newton, Moyo etc need to push hard this year to make sure they are in contention for next season. If they aren't I could see a large number of the youth/development squad being replaced or sent out on loan.
That pretty much describes any top player in the Eredivisie...
No good having them hanging around to make the numbers up, if they aren't going to feature they may as well be replaced.
Villa go down and we get Benteke - would love that! Insomnia finally playing for a 'bigger' club (away to Huddersfield).
No that's my weekend hobby. During the week I lurk with more a sort of aggressive vagrant eyeing a pigeon in the darkness, kind of vibe.
Bony looks to be heading off to Russia http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/transfer-talk/news/bony-hints-at-russia-move_69087.html
Must admit I'd like us to sign Aubameyang just to add even more brutal pace to our attack. Then we could have an option of: Aubameyang Gouff Sissoko HBA or Cisse Gouff HBA Aubameyang Mmmmmmmmmmmmm pace.
