I expect Nigel is waiting until the summer, when there will be no shortage of promotion chasing Campionship clubs interested.
Leeds got taken over by that Dubai based consortium with money in January (click link below), but they did not spend any in that window as Warnock has stated he's retiring at the end of this season. Made sense to wait out the rest of what's currently been an average season for them, and let the new manager take them in his own direction when he arrives in the summer. This one could make more sense than most as a possible destination. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/dec/21/leeds-united-gfh-capital-takeover Lat
I just had a thought why we have not heard anything from him. It was the same with Pardew - I think it was about 3-4 months before we saw Pardew in public, it'll be the same with Nigel. As much as we think NC is a ruthless heatless guy, I think there was a big pay off (as he liked Nigel) and terms and conditions attached to the pay off. One of those was no press, no new club for a few months, and I would like to think "thanks for everything, you have earned a rest" Just my 2p
He probably had his contract paid up and silence may have been part of the deal, but I doubt it included any clause about taking another job. I had a clause in my contract at one job that I could be stopped from working for another company for 1 year, but that was because I was in medical research (never enforced anyway). I think it's more likely that money gives you options, so that you can wait for the right job (which may involve another manager being booted out).
Restrictive covenant Fran, though I can't see that being enforceable within football, and only tends to be if you leave, not if you're dismissed. I heard that the negotiations on his final settlement were still not completed? That would also give some indication as to any delay, though like you, I hope he's taking a well earned break and considering any options until he finds that absolute right one.
Yeah, I can't see a non-compete clause, in particular because a team in the Championship isn't really competing with us.
It would be wonderful for you Blues, but your ambition simply isn't going to be able to match his. He's a proven article now and the real deal. You need someone like Eddie, from AFCB. Michael Appleton would suit you. Of course, you could always take a punt with someone like Martin Allen, if he ever becomes available. He may be eccentric, but he gets results. Simon Grayson..? Now there's a catch, if you could persuade him.
