Im right pissed off, struggled to get there tonight. why did I bother? I was up at 5am, worked till 6pm, then rushed to the match even though I felt knackered ... won't happen again, If the staff of LCFC can't be arsed neither can I...pitiful effort tonight.
All round shocking Nugent's worse game in a city shirt. Matty James and Michael Keane only players who impressed
Agreed. Too many players thought we'd roll all over them like the 6-1 game. Can't think of anyone who played anything near their usual high-standards.
Keane was good but I thought James gave the ball away too much. Knocky kept trying tricks when a simple pass would have done. Gally started well and then faded (maybe a fitness issue), Wellens struggled again for fitness, Wes looked tired, Konch was all over the match but let himself down for the second goal - he should have poked it out for a corner. Futacs looked stiff and awkward. Everyone else did little worthy of comment. Overall we lacked energy, urgency and effort - it was almost as if we wanted out of the cup. I'd have been worried if we played like that in the league - thankfully, most of our performances there have been much better. Oh well, no game on Sat/Sun, we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope our rivals have a rubbish weekend!
- As a top pro the chance of playing in THE FA cup comes around probably 10 to 15 times in a career if your lucky.... , if thats what the players think about it, its a sad indictment
I know what you're saying but how many times does a promotion opportunity come around in a career? Most of our players will only get into the Prem if they manage to get promotion with us. The way I see it, get promoted, secure your place in the Prem, then think about cups - like we did under O'Neill. Even if we'd got past Wigan, we'd likely only get smashed by a Chelsea or a Man U in the quarters. I wouldn't want us to risk promotion on that. Having said that, and as much as part of me wanted us to go out tonight, I hate to see us lose - especially without trying.
Don't wash with me mate, you CANNOT turn form on and off like a tap.. christ, teams not so many years ago played well over 60 games a season on ****e pitches with a squad of twelve . If your not out there to give it your all then don't fookin bother.and don't ask people to pay to watch it
That's the bit that annoys me. They still sell it like it's a competitive match, but then rest players and don't try. But in fairness, we kinda knew it was coming and it wasn't full price.
They did slash the ticket price in half It was £20 for non sth's at first but they then sold them for a tenner
It was a pretty dismal effort tonight. Looked more like we were trying to avoid injury that anything else. Hopefully now the cries for Futacs to be given a chance will cease. He is a decent bloke, but not good enough and never has been.
I said on here yesterday that Pearson sees Futacs all the time and if he was any good we'd have seen more of him. Tonight was a massive chance for him and he looked awful. Perhaps people will trust in Nige a bit more now...
This defeat might help you. Nigel will be tearing into underperformers which might mean you stuff the next few teams. You'll forget all about this game if you get automatic promotion or win at Wembley.
Why trust in Nige? He signed him in the first place? His record on buying strikers stinks. Dont get me wrong I am glad we are out the cup,we can now put everything in to trying to go up.But last night told me we do not have much depth to the squad,we are crying out for another striker and holding midfield player.
We'll have to differ on this one - I'm a huge believer that there is nothing to stop the two going hand-in-hand - if we should go on a slump now and fade away from the promtion hunt like last season (and we are already in a mini-slump) then we would be selling our kidneys to still be in the latter stages of the cup ... we might also be saying goodbye to Nigel (how long did our owners give Svan?) .. I also believe in playing ypur best team week-in week-out in all competitions - not sure that NP could have done it much differently last night given the injuries we have - but it does go to show that we are somewhat toothless without Wood (not just him scoring but how his presence helps to open the opportunities for others) and that some of the squad players are either lacking in quality or apptitude .... wouldn't be too surprised to see a couple of loan signings come in on the back of this ....
the recent cup games have shown how weak our squad is. We MUST act soon before the loan window closes or we are stuck for the run in. Vardy, Futacs, Gallagher and Wellens are not good enough and should have been shipped out in jan to make way for one or two of real quality, loans or otherwise. We are in the best position for 10 years to get into the prem and we must capitalise on our position and resources to mnake it happen. Relying on blokes like futacs and vardy if we get injuries scares the **** out of me. Having said that Kasper, Nugent and Konchesky had very poor games, de laet rarely crossed the halfway line and poor knockeart was kicked by 3 or 4 whenever he got the ball. I got freezing cold for nowt, very disappointing, I hope its a big wake up call and we go and beat Charlton next week.
For me, you can get rid of anyone that isn't playing regularly, as they will not be on any sort of form for games like this, this is the problem with having a solid starting 11. Goes to show that we should have done more business in January ...
What a load of negative posts ! Your out the cup that's all ... Its points that matter this season for Both our clubs . Your not the only team to lose in the cup in a game that on paper you should have won and it's far better to have a bad game in the cup then in the league... You have had a great run in the league to pull back a 7 point gap on my team ( Grrr ) FFs ALL teams have **** games at times ... That's football. Getting knocked out could be the best thing that could have happened , imagine if one of your best player had got a bad injury v Wigan . It's going to be a great season for both our clubs with a play off place a sure thing at least. Stop bloody moaning... Cardiff , Hull City and Leicester can now fight it out for promotion.. May the best teams win .. In my case I hope it's Hull City . Though I would love Cardiff to crack up which is still possible and open the way for both our teams to go up automatic..... If not one of us will have to win the play off final..
Only 3 strikers at the club are worth keeping (Nugent, Wood, Waghorn) To get the best out of Waghorn though he needs to play every week. Being out the FA Cup isnt bad thing. We was never going to win it, we have a weekend off and that lets get back to business. Lets beat Charlton and go on another run. Promotion is all that matters. Nothing else
