Time to start packing...heading for the south of France tomorrow. Could do with an extra bag for all the plugs, wires and chargers these days. Might leave the laptop at home though and catch up with the Nest in a couple of weeks.

    good afternoon all!

w_y i'm looking forward to Saturday too, it's going to be a huge crowd..hopefully we can spur the team on to another 3 points! :)

Thanks for the caramel latte Ak :)

Oh, have a lovely time Theo. Wires are a pain these days, everything needs one!

I have finally, this morning, received the pack to send my phone back, can you believe it?! Over a week since i first reported the fault. I've had to go and buy a replacement cheapy in the meantime..not a happy bunny!

Morning all. I won't be on here much this week as I'm at work for the whole week, and by that I mean I'm sleeping here, too. We are running a conference, which has been in the planning for over two years. When our proposal was accepted we were going to use the Conference Centre in town, but that fell down in the earthquake. Our next venue, a hotel with conference facilities, had their non-residential facilities declared unsafe by engineers last August. So now we have it on Campus, which is fine but is 35 km from home and I have to be here at 7 in the morning after a lot of late night networking. (That means a lot of drinking. About 50% of the delegates are Australian.)

Yesterday we had a keynote paper from the head of Christchurch and Canterbury Marketing who was explaining how to get visitors back to a city which has lost its CBD. All very interesting if you are interested in that sort of thing. What was more interesting was the reaction of ALL the people who live in Christchurch when he was describing the earthquake. Even after two years we were all trying to hold back the tears. Grief, even for inanimate objects, lasts a long time.

Sorry to go on about it but the emotions still seems to be rather raw.

Surely a totally unjustified reputation!! We only drink more than anyone else because we have to - it's so hot & the water has bugs in it, so beer is the safest option. ;)

Not that I'm overly interested in the subject, but it would have been interesting to hear his paper - disappearing CBD's are a problem just about everywhere these days.

Any chance of a look at the paper, I would also be interested to have a look. Sorry that the scars still run deep. However, given the terrible situation it is not surprising really.

On another note...I studied at ChristChurch Uni in Canterbury, England. Any idea if there is a connection between there an the Uni in NZ?

Good luck with the conference and 'networking.' ;)

At long last I now have proper hot water and central heating<party> It is so novel just turning on the hot tap and hot water comes out rather than have to just turn on the hot water tap and it dribbles out:( Just in time for us to go on holiday<yikes> at least the other half will be happy she can have a bath tomorrow night when she gets back from Paris;)
Then on Thursday she who must be obeyed gets her haircut then we will be off down to Gatwick in the afternoon as we have booked carparking for the 2 weeks and a hotel for the night prior to our departure;) We will even check our bags in Thursday evening so we don't have to rush on Friday morning and we can just go straight through departures on Friday morning;) So I will have limited access to the internet so I have done my predictions for the next couple of weeks on the future postings thread, just need to sort out my fantasy football team and I think that will be it<party>

Have a nice trip to Stockholm H<hug><smooch>

Huddersfiled go 2-1 up against the Foxes...yep watching other results for a bit now. It is that time of the season, So bunched up at the top (nosebleed time for us Horns) of the table.

Brighton equalise too. Going to be a tight finish, I hope we don't regret some sloppy performances and lots of changes, everything will count at the end of the season, like some have siad it will be tight.

Al n H enjoy your respective trips.

The Huddersfield match is a cup match, so makes no difference, other than tired legs.

Derby equaliser, Boro take lead at home to Leeds - happy overall as Hull clearly the bigger threat! Would take 2 draws and a boro win!

And as I am typing Hull back in front and Derby down to 10 men. Looks like Hull go 2nd and 3 points ahead of us.

Last 1/3 of the season every result vital though still cant help but feel that if we play to our potential then will have a good chance of 2nd (though Leicester and Hull are both very strong teams with very good managers!)

Thanks AK - a skinny Capuccino would be great (used to be a peppermint latte man but trying to be a bit healthier whilst still getting the much needed caffeine fix)....btw - have always wondered about your screen name - I'm sure in the early days of the Hornets nest it was explained but would you mind humouring me? If I were to hazard a guess I would say it means something like 'Come on you Akureyri' (based on your location).
Its nice to see that the hornets are well supported as far afield as Mexico, Iceland, Norway, France, Oz, NZ (sure I've missed a few!) - It must help that access to commentary and live games is so much better online these days (I remember going on holidays to the US when I was younger and listening to my dads longwave radio to catch up on scores) - I recall hearing about our 1-0 win over Bradford in the Premier league from halfway up the Statue of liberty for example!
