I think sending the squad to Dubai is absolutely the right thing to do. Over and above the team bonding benefit, it allows the players to train properly in a more favourable climate. Back here, the training ground is already acknowledged as sub-standard (hence its planned replacement) and is apparently prone to flooding. They can do some good, intensive work in Dubai and come back fresh for a mauling by United.
No problem with them going away and training in a warm climate. Will do them good to get away from same old place. Some people look into this too much. it's a training camp not a p-up.
Absolutely correct thing to do ... we have to train on quality surfaces in the sun ... I am hoping now that Bosingwa steps up. Christ we cannot go down Swords you seriously need to get back on side this is your final warning
Yeh right, just like the pre-season in the Far East, playing against the Bhutan Village XI, etc.... whilst Swansea take on Real Betis, etc.....Not a piss-up?? - you can drink in Dubai ELLERS.
Madrid just to confirm you believe that the squad is going on holiday if so I must warn you that I may get you banned, stripped naked, whipped, tarred and feathered. We are to be united no excuses now
I'd also read that Harry reckoned our training pitches were rubbish because of flooding and no under-soil heating. Dubai sounds like a plan to get guaranteed good weather for vital training as opposed to a jolly up. If it works and we start winning everyone will think it is a stoke of genius but unless results start to improve it will be another stick to beat the players with I'm afraid.
Swords, maybe Harry wants to keep his golfing handicap in check and has let the boys tag along for the ride. I agree that rewarding 'bonding session' doesn't quite sit right with me. Put em in a soup kitchen joint, feeding a couple of hundred people ................ they'll soon starting bonding / working together. Please Sir, can I have ........mmmmmmmmmmore? They are not unlike the Rocky movies, say number 3 or 4. They've had it too good and need to get 'street hungry' again. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now.
Am I the only one a bit concerned about HR's comments on the QPR training facilities? The Warren Farm deal has been allowed to slow down because (according to the club) a significant investment was made to upgrade Harlington. And yet according to this we don't even have a gym.
That tour was under hughes time not Arry. As i said you will always get the 'doom and gloom' brigade putting a negative slant on it. Whatever happens they will spin it. If we lose to ManU it was because it was a p-up rather than training. If we win the ''DandG' brigade won't mention it. just let them think what they want. i bet these people don't even know which players don't drink?
so if we beat United we stay up? is that it? - and there´s me thinking that we had to win at the very least 7 games - it´s not all doom and gloom, at least when we playing in the championship everyone on here was a lot happier, apart from DT. dib dib dob dob.......be prepared!
My thought exactly, Aussie lad. Ellers, I don't know if you've noticed but our over-paid prima donnas have won two games all season and we are 7 points adrift of safety at the bottom of the league. If we were up in mid-table, performing well, I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid at a trip such as this. But these players have been utterly woeful this season and the Club is getting relegated because of it. I'm surprised at you mate. I thought you'd have more loyalty to the Club than that.
Swords i don't need to prove my loyalty to the club, then can just see from their records all the season tickets/away tickets and everything else i have put into their 'coffers'. i really cant see how taking the team to a better training facilty can harm them remembering Remy pulled a Groin on that cold day? The warm weather will help them and a change will do them good. it makes no difference whether we are top or bottom as long as the facilities are good, which i believe they are. Saying/thinking some like Mackie and Co are going on a P-up is utterly way off mark. Really cannot see the problem.
Fair enough Ellers. Sorry for the "loyalty" jibe. Your loyalty is never in question. Truth is, you do make sense. I'm just angry at what these guys have served up this season when they were supposed to be quality Premier League players. Hopefully they come back with a bit of fire in their belly mate!
Mate i agree with how you feel and sometimes i want to go in that changing room and show them how much money i spent while muppets like Bowinger refuse to play? But we do geniunly have players that want to play for the badge and if this break helps them then its fine by me. Like you i really hope they go away sort it out and come back stronger.
