Nah, Olsson made no movement towards Suarez, if anything Suarez ran into him & then went down without even attempting to jump for the ball. It was a dive, pure & simple.

Suarez backed into Olsen. It was never a penalty, even your own manger thinks it was harsh.

All the defender did was stand his ground and win the header.

This. Olsson just stood his ground and played the ball. You can't punish him for refusing to let Suarez knock him out of the way. The only way he could have avoided the contact would have been to jump out of the way and just let Suarez have the ball.

Suarez would have had a decent shout had he actually tried to challenge for the ball and been impeded, but he made no effort to head the ball and crumpled like a paper doll the instant he touched Olsson.

    Penalty, schmenalty.

Whether it was a penalty or not, that was robbery with violence last night. I have rarely witnessed such a one-sided game of football go the wrong way. 23 shots, 14 on target. Nah, we didn't create anything, as some ****er posted earlier. You're not satisfied with winning it again, and still have to come on here winding to ****. Why can't you just show a bit of humility for a change.

Anyway, **** this ****. My mate's girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer the other day and probably has a month at most. She's 45 years old. Some things are more important than ****ty football.

just watched it again for the tenth time. Never a pen, never a dive. Suarez does go back into Ollsen, Ollsen, with eyes only on the ball, does go into Suarez - legally. Both players with their eyes on the ball and, as you say, Suarez goes over like a sack of ****. Then again, you run backwards into a man 20 kg heavier than you moving forward in the other direction and you might go over too.

Got to say, had that been given against our centre backs I'd have been furious. But ten yards out the box and a punt comes forward, and you see it happen all the time with the occassional (one-in-twenty) free kick going to the forward.

Never a penalty, never a dive, but it was as much a pen as you got against Cheltenham when Bennet had the audacity to touch Fellaini when he was being backed into by a player with no intention of playing the ball.

That's a fair point, but the speed and angle at which Suarez went down you could tell his instinctive thought was "let's try for a penalty". I was playing five aside last night and ran into a bloke who was a couple of inches taller and a bit heaver, and also caught an accidental elbow to the throat. I ended up on the floor but not before having a decent crack at trying to win the ball.

Like you say, there was a fair bit of contact so you couldn't really call it an outright dive. But imo Suarez' reaction was more in line with a player hoping to win a penalty, rather than one who had collided with another and had no chance to keep his balance. Tho' to be fair he's hardly the only footballer to do that.

Yes, that's my take on it too. As soon as there was contact Suarez thought "Penalty!". Maybe semantics, but that's not a dive in my book (not as much a dive as he and certain others in the league do with regularity). Not even as much as a dive as he'd done outside the box in the same game, but than again he was kicked and tripped more than in any game other than against Stoke, in my opinion. That Jacob is one dirty thug.

Baggies deserved their win though. <ok>

They must have a few more opportunities to achieve that goal before the end of the season.

Red, you can't have that much percentage of play, possession and chances on/off target without scoring (and a generous penalty) and not score, yet deserve to win. Baggies had three shots on target, scored twice and the other was just finger-tipped away from a third goal.

Semantics again, but they 'deserved' it for being professional, playing percentages and taking their chances, whilst their goalie was heroic and saved several of those other than the ones like the penalty and Borini's SHOCKING miss. Ergo they deserved to win - this isn't the nursery sports day where everyone gets a prize for trying: the back pages today say west Brom won 0-2. And that's a fact.

To say we didn't create anything was bollocks Eric. It that was the case, why was Foster MOTM? It wasn't just for the penalty save, penalty or not. I wasn't being directly abusive to you personally. I still have the red mist, partly due to other **** going on, but to say we din't create anything is just plain daft.

What I actually said was you 'didn't create too many clear cut chances' which I think is a pretty fair assesment. I didn't say you didn't create anything <ok>

Anyway Red, sorry to hear about what you posted earlier.
