Racing comes (hopefully) on Tuesday from Ayr and Lingfield over the jumps (both meetings subject to morning inspections) plus Southwell on the Fibresand. One runner in each bumper catches my eye, both of whom I backed last time out: 4.40 Lingfield - Bobbyjack basically had the race won at Lingfield (bumpers jumper) before being collared on the line by Koolala andI expect him to make amends here. Choc's only ride on the card. 5.00 Ayr - Fine Rightly made an excellent debut when landing a bumper over course and distance from Caledonia (subsquently ran 3rd in a Listed Bumper), previous winner Ballyben and a well-fancied Swinbank runner. The Alflora gelding gets his ground again here and, despite the penalty, will take all the beating. The danger is the Pipe horse who was entered in the hot bumper at Newbury at the weekend but didn't run. Best of luck boys and girls
I want to put one up for tomorrow at Southwell which is a course I very rarely have a bet on. The reason I have decided to go for one tomorrow however is because the horse in question just loves the place having visited it four times and won four time, there is no course in the country where CD mean so much. Southwell 3.15 Nazreef 9-2
Hallmark Star 3/1 can strike for Lucinda Russell up at Ayr in the opener, having almost run the finish out of a nice type in Veloce LTO over course and distance. Will get the run of the race from the front and in this ground, I don't see anything passing it. Looked to relish the test ast time can glo them into submission. Swattow Typhoon 5/6 (2.20 Ayr) has won over course and distance on NH Flat and has been found a nice opening to make his mark over hurdles. 3.25 AIRBREAN 4/1 (Nap) Superb record fresh, including when winning a handicap hurdle on the bit off 126 after a 495 day absence. The trainer does well with his small string (many women say the same to me) and the booking of Jason Maguire is most interesting. The trainer has a win and a place from 3 visits to Ayr in the last year and this is one to take very seriously if it has taken well to fences at home. Small double and treble
Was putting this one up also Bluesky really rate it's chances back at Southwell and also back on a mark he's won off before and has won off higher(96 now 94), 4/1 seems a little skinny perhaps given current form but they appear to not want to take much chance knowing he is a course specialist and looks to be well treated. The 2:45 there has a small field and is potentially a tricky race to call with many of the runners boasting CD form but Flying Pickets is the selection albeit a shorty, ran on well towards the end Sunday just leaving it bit too late too catch the winner Bitaphon who slipped the field early. Has 5 wins at Southwell and rates the one to beat for me.
One I like today is at Lingfield 1.30 CAULFIELDS VENTURE 15/8 he has bumped in to a couple of well handicapped horses in his last couple of races, nothing in this field looks well handicapped so I expect him to finally reach the winners circle.
Silly season seems to be upon us, Grandouet is rumoured to be doubtful for the Champion Hurdle, and the market has been suspended by some bookmakers. Shall we play a Non Runner bingo? My three will be - Bob's Worth Tidal Bay Quevega
Almost the same for me too Toppy - except I'm opposing Swatow Typhoon with Milano Magic, and have duplicated the bet replacing Hallmark Star with Deepsand!! Small stakes just for something to watch on a cold snowy Tuesday
http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/cards/card.sd?race_id=571591&r_date=2013-02-12#raceTabs=sc_ This is an interesting race. 8 runners, and if you don't fancy the first 3 in the betting to be the first 3 home then everything else is a lovely e/w price. To go further, the 2nd fav fell LTO and the 3rd fav hasn't seen a racecourse in over a year.
Bit slow on the old racing here today so wondering if anyone has any strong views on the CL footy tonight and tomorrow?
Both to score in the Real United game. United to get a 2-2 draw. United to go through to the next round.
Not so sure George...things not all rosey at the Bernabeu presently. It's the biggest club in the world against the second best side in Manchester! One thing for sure both teams are capable of scoring away from home.
Nah, the Prem isn't that great at the moment. Mourinho has a fantastic record against Fergie and Real dominated City in both ties. It's all Real have left to play for this season and whilst their league form has been poor they've performed in the big games against the big teams. This is a big game and I expect them to perform. If RVP can grab United a goal then maybe they can got to OT with a chance.
