Nigel Adkins keeps getting linked with every management vacancy (bit like Martin O'Neill was), but he doesn't seem to have applied for any. Is he in shock or is he waiting for the perfect job. We were the perfect job for him: facilities, ambition and money. I remember how he looked on the first day...like a kid in a sweet shop. He now has built up his CV and profile and has the money to take his time. Is he hoping for a PL job..that may be unlikely. Or is he thinking of taking a complete new direction...he has done that before. Is there a Championship team with enough ambition for him? What do you think?
Well Poyet has been linked to West Ham in the papers this morning. I think Brighton would match his ambitions. A new ground and a squad who are capable of a promotion push.
As Alan Nixon said the other day, if he wanted a job he'd be sat behind a desk right now (or, more accurately, probably stood on a training ground). I reckon he waits until summer. Man deserves a holiday.
His family probably deserve to have a bit of his time as well. I wouldn't be totally surprised if he takes a completely new path...he has more money now than he could possibly ever expect when at Scunthorpe...perhaps he has another dream. Would be a pity as he is a great manager and would miss the day to day stuff at a football club.
So you're not happy that Hammond went to Brighton? I have no problems with Brighton, just their manager and El Abd. If Nigel became Brighton manager I would be happy for him, they're a good club.
I think Nigel needs one more promotion-winning job before he is ready for a "big" club. Brighton might be the club to take up, Leeds possibly, or even someone like Ipswich (please don't mention Jim Magilton). Once he is in the promised land again, and showing that he can keep a club there, the possibilities are endless. And if the Brendan Rodgers experiment fails, why not Liverpool in a season or two?
I have no problems with Brighton, but Leeds Utd, good enough for our Nigel..? No thank you. Huddersfield, I would have been fairly ok with, but Nigel deserves better. Really, Brighton would be fine. No relocation, just come back from a long holiday and carry on. The Brighton fans would forgive his keep up comment in a heart beat, once they'd realised they'd got a gem. It's funny but I find myself very interested in where Nigel goes next, and I find myself occasionally scanning for news about him and what he's upto. I hope he chooses well from the inevitable list of clubs that offer him a job. He deserves it. It would be ironic if he chose somewhere like Swindon Town, because then the crowd there would have a ready made song for him.
Be nice to have him back at SMS perhaps for a cup game, so everyone could show their appreciation (shortly before Saints win 5.0 of course).
No I'm not. Still like Hammond but never liked Brighton. Goes back to the 80's for me. Poyet just adds to the total dislike.
Only old buggers remember this one? "We're only making plans for Nigel. We only want what's best for him."
I reckon Adkins might end up as Leeds manager. They are the biggest club outside the premiership and I think he could get them promoted.
Did Nigel move down permenantly? If not, I can see Leeds new owners elect taking him there and he'd soon have 40,000 back in that ground. If he's still down South then maybe Brighton, maybe QPR, maybe even Aston Villa.
