Millwall 'deeply shocked and appalled' Everyone at Millwall Football Club is deeply shocked and appalled by the footage shown on Sky Sports News Special Report on Monday evening. As a club Millwall has been at the forefront of the battle to eradicate racism from football, being the first in the country to introduce an Anti-Racism Trust, and in spite of the incidents shown in this programme, tremendous strides have been made. However, itâs a sad fact that a small minority of people in society still hold racist views and some individuals bring them into football stadiums throughout the country. We firmly believe that football itself is not the problem, but rather football is committed to being part of the solution. At Millwall we operate a zero tolerance policy in which we target, arrest and ban any fan identified displaying racist or abusive behaviour. In relation to the Leeds United match featured in the Sky programme, we became aware of allegations made initially via Twitter which were picked up elsewhere within minutes of the match ending. We immediately launched an investigation but there were no reports from officials, police, stewards or media at the ground, including Sky TV who broadcast the game live, to substantiate the allegations at the time. We spoke in person to the Leeds United player in question and asked him if he was aware of being subjected to any racial abuse. He told us this had not been the case and, on that basis, we therefore had nothing to substantiate allegations of racial abuse and thus refuted them. Now that this new evidence has come to light, Millwall FC has requested that Sky make all footage available to the Police, which they have agreed to do. We will assist in identifying the individuals concerned with a view to the strongest possible action being taken. Interesting to hear our milwall friends excuses
To be fair, it was 2 blokes out of 15,000. And as for the players the abuse was aimed at - can't think of 2 more worthy http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ers/6221942/El-Hadji-Diouf-wall-of-shame.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...jail-serving-half-sentence.html#axzz2KdNSO8V0 Love how our media portray these 2 vile human beings as victims
There were five involved and that was just in the vicinity of the sky cameraman. Pointless trying to defend this tc
Not defending it and don't feel I need too - one is a sex offender and the other spits at children - I think they got off lightly
If either of them played in the land of your owners, they would have been stoned in public (or was that Paddy Kenny )
If they'd been abused for their crimes then fair enough, but being black isn't a crime. Diouf often has to put up with abuse from opposition fans for being a horrible person, and it's clear he loves being the panto villain. But when he's getting abused for the colour of his skin, that's not really acceptable is it? I wouldn't take it either.
heared leeds excuses when fan went for goalkeeper and accused of chanting at sheff wed manager eire leeds, i deplore racist abuse just because of a players origin as the next man, loved to no who the bald idiot was giving it some and gets punished , but equally lets remember their were 14,990 odd that were well behaved and shouldnt be bracketed in the same manner so that the ills of society arent pushed at millwalls front door.
Banter aside, a 3 month investigation that focussed on what they felt was target areas found that out of the 30,000,000 people that attended football, FIVE. shouted bad word s. I'd be intrigued to see the results of a similar investigation for other areas of society. There was an investigation into mosques some time ago which showed some dishing out dvd's and preaching hatred and death to the infidel, but I've not heard of a follow up.
5 blokes caught on camera quite clearly, just seen it. Hopefully their days at the Den are numbered. Sky journo now saying that our CCTV should pick this up - when we play Leeds it's a cracking atmosphere and barr us all wearing microphones I don't think any club in the country has CCTV good enough to pick up every single comment good or bad. The 'chants' they did record were very individual and certainly not sang en mass but they were certainly wrong in todays society. Even Dutch Dog has spoken wise words on this and how bizarre that it is aired in the build up to our trip to Luton on Saturday - stokinh the coals journo style ???
It was five blokes caught on a hidden camera in someones pocket. It would have been able to cover 100 people in that area. If there were 50 cameramen in the ground, how many more cases would there have been?
Two man, a cameraman and reporter. Milwall chairman panicking now issuing life bans, obviously afraid of hefty fines and or points deductions. Could be back in your spiritual home yet tc, division 1
I don't think the powers that be would be so stupid as to relegate a team because of things being shouted on the terraces. Especially when there are other clubs whose fans physically attack rival players that get away scot free
Five people in one block. I'm not going to tarnish all Millwall fans with the same brush, as a Leeds fan that would be ridiculous, but those who are caught need to be dealt with, and it's beginning to seem like Millwall have been turning a blind eye to some of what's been going on.
http://www.newsatden.co.uk/14153-football-league-chief-defends-millwall-after-racism-report.html "The club has worked very hard, and spent a lot of money, reaching out to people to improve them. Persecuting the club rather than the perpetrators is the wrong answer." you cannot blame the club
Only 2 people identified(at different games) and the one with the cap was pissed off that the wife beater had just scored a hatrick and we had lost a 3 goal lead, by the letter of the law he said nothing racist unless Black is a racist word. The bald one is caught bang to rights but no one around him were aware of what he was shouting so there is no way Diouf heard him either.
