I agree with DMD here, although I'd go as far to say that still ranks him below Ice Hockey and Speedway sportsmen for me.
As someone else has mentioned it was 20K a year quoted on Humberside not £20 per game. The KC stadium is a sports facility shared by 2 clubs and I think it is ridiculous to charge either of them to have a few pictures and bits of sporting memorabilia on the walls. The whole thing is just completely stupid.
I've been told now by several people whose opinion I respect that Mr Whiteley is more than deserving of the esteem he's held in. My lack of knowledge is my ignorance.
Karen, on the RL board they confirm what someone told me and that's Dr Allam says Deano's memorabilia costs City £20 a game. They may well be putting a lot more stuff out to add to the costs. On the face of it, it sounds petty, but all there is at the moment is silence from FC board who have known about this for over a year, and garbled mumbles from politicians. The fact it's left to ill-informed fans and journalists show there's something wrong deeply rooted in the system.
Classic Pearson PR this, and the Hull FC fans are gobbling it up just like we used to. He knows exactly what he's doing, the ****.
I posted that exactly near enough and my post and account got deleted. They want some recognition, i would say they can put a picture in my living room, but the £1 a week charge is to much.
I had no idea who he was, but having checked his wiki page, I'd have to say he does seem to have an impressive CV and the work he put into this great city of ours definitely deserves recognition.
He's been sat waiting for this for a year I reckon. But, if he hasn't challenged it, I reckon it's because the Allams are legally correct. On the face of it I can't say I agree with the charge, but if areas are made to look like they belong to one or other of the clubs, I don't see it as extra-ordinary that there's a premium to pay.
Apologies your correct, just the PM telling me to be quiet. I feel like a WUM now admittedly, problem is its overshadowing the fact we have three huge games coming up, really frustrated me.
This is a post from the RL forum: Surely the money isn't going into Allam's pockets, it's going into the (Allam-owned) SMC's pockets for maintenance to the KC Stadium, something Hull FC don't contribute to, as they're not owners of the SMC. Do they expect everything that needs fixing to just be funded by the SMC (Allams) and also get angry when the SMC (Allams) try to make money for the SMC to pay for the maintenance?
Also notice Councillor Phil Webster has posted: How about you spend your elected time and taxpayers money on more important things like bringing investment and jobs to the city?
Having the walls decorated in Club colours is not too far removed from renting that room. Office space is charged for, so I presume this is the same logic?
As far as I'm aware, the SMC has a fixed agreement with the council with regard to the percentage of it's income they have to hand over, I don't see that the Allam's could increase the income and simply pocket the cash.
The only rugby player I can name is " Clive Sullivan Way " And only because a road is named after him .
Do we have a situation where the council is demanding a company responsible for running a public facility deliberately reduce the income coming into the public coffers during a recession? And if that is the case, will the council be paying a proportionate amount back to Hull City for the moneys they have paid since this policy was implemented; I'm assuming since City's memorabilia is still up, that they've paid their dues. What a wonderful thing for the council to be focussing on while the roads are full of potholes.
