I think Someone like Chris Hughton would do a good job at West Ham

Lots of people could succeed there - big club, good crowds - wont be long before they go up

They were saying on TS today that they think West Ham's problems run very deep and that they can see them going further down before they start coming up again...

I don't think it will be easy and there is talk of about 8 players leaving - but with their resources they have a better than average chance

Gus Poyet would be good for the Hammers - if they don't mind the Spurs link

Dont think Gus will leave Brighton Leo , He is achieving Cult status there and apparantly is paid well and has an excellent relationship with the clubs owners, promoted ,New ground , its all rosy for him ,why would he leave for a club in decline and in the same league! I fancy Brighton to go up again!

Well I think under him Brighton will be one of the favourites next season - and he has played at teh top level so understands that and managed where it "hurts" and got promotion in style. He is amongst the favourites now.

Much much bigger club - and they are going to have the Olympic stadium - I think he would jump at the chance - Brighton are as limited as us in the longer term - small club not in London - West Ham have much higher ambitions

West ham are a 100m in debt and in big trouble ! I think a manager going there is going to oversee quite a firesale!
Cant even imagine the interest charges on debt like that?
A manager going there is going to have to be used to operating on a very frugal budget , maybe less than Brightons budget!
Personally I think Gus would be mad to move !
I see in the news David Gold is saying the next manager must return them to the prem ........No pressure there then!
You get the feeling Maclaren isnt going to be the first to reject the job!!!

Still maintain that west Ham are a far far bigger club and any success there would put Poyet in with a chance of the biggest clubs - West Ham are another team that tend to get back up fast due to their large crowds

West Ham were 100m in debt when they were sold. Relegation gives the owners the opportunity to get all the higher paid players off their books this summer & re-build.
They will have 4 years of parachute payments and will be able to build again. I would think if they don't go up next season it will be the season after that.
The owners are not paupers - having their own business empires as well as having sold Birmingham at a good price.
They will also be able to make a profit from selling their old ground when they move after the Olympics.

Good points Chris, although Mr Gold has said he wont pump any more in but he will loan it ! Would be interested to know the interest rates!
West Ham have a lot of players on contract at prem wages with no relegation clauses(same error as us)
The parachute payments they will have ,but they will lose 40 -50m next season in reduced media payments reduced season tickets and sales etc as they lose the plastic element of their fan base! For a club having to service the debt they have there wont be as much money as you may think for them next season!
They will have to pay a fee towards the olympic stadia as well which wont be peanuts and will probably take the majority of the sale of Upton park!
There other prob is one we know well! when you are struggling financially whatever you are selling people drive a harder bargain against you!

Same for any club coming down Norway - but the likes of West Brom have coped and gone straight back up - and this season Burnley and Hull have not done so badly
