First team players are now on a 2 day break after training today. They return to training on Thursday.

JW said they deserve the break as been working very hard to get us a 5 point gap from the bottom 2.

Do you agree that they should have a 2 day break?

    Or

Do you think being prepared for Wycombe is more important and maybe light training is better than none?

I'm not going to question anything John Ward says or does
    at the moment!
The players have been running themselves into the ground,
and he has plenty of time to build them up again for Saturday.
So whatever it is that you're doing John, keep on doing it!

Sound management lots of tired bodies 2 days well deserved need a break from all the stress of being in a dogfight.

Going to be a toughie vs Wilie Wycombe on a superb run same as us last 6 results except they have won last 3 away from home.

I don't really follow this. These are all young men who should be at the peak of physical perfection. Take a cyclist like Bradley Wiggins who puts far more effort in over the intense schedule of the three week Tour de France and competes practically every consecutive day. When he does get a day off he finds it necessary to go out on a 'relaxing' training run. Sure these footballers need to rest to recover from injury, but a week between games as a necessary period to recover for the next week's match is a nonsense. Go to an international tournament for more intense physical sports than football and the players soak up about seven or eight top flight, highly competetive games in a fortnight!

In essence I agree with you Sapphire; but, as I said, Ward is doing ok
so I'll trust him to do what's right.

But Sapphire old chap most other sports persons don't get lumps kicked out of them and playing football is full of twists and turns on all sorts of muscles/ligaments etc.

Two days rest is well deserved. :)

    and a pay rise.

[.......most other sports persons don't get lumps kicked out of them and playing football is full of twists and turns on all sorts of muscles/ligaments etc.

I don't have a problem with giving them two day' off. The season isn't over a short period it lasts for several months and the players have another life to lead outside the football commitment. What I am objecting to is that there is an inference that they need two days to recover from their exhausting efforts over the previous week.

As far as your point about the stresses of the game. Have a look at international field hockey which is a sport I was referring to previously. Those players run a lot further; run at speed a lot faster; twist and turn a far greater number of times, and at speed, than any footballer;get walloped by a cricket ball; get walloped by a wooden club................and they come up for the next game with bruises grazes etc.............and before you knock it watch it... and of course you could also try a bit of international rugby........

i see it as they get paid to do that job. they do a few hours training 5 days a week and play 1 or 2 games a week. yes i bet it is exhausting but they are paid to do it and i would love to do that instead of the typical 9-5 job doing a ****e job i hate and taking crap from twats all day long earning a month what they earn a week for playing football. they get sundays and wednesdays off anyway and all summer off.
i do understand why JW doing what he is doing and i bet its gone down well with the players. but wycombe got a game during this week so they are not preparing for us but preparing for their other game. we got an advantage. if JW was worried about over doing it then light training and concentrating on tactics getting it right would be better than nothing, thats how i see it but, im not the manager and like P49 said, trust in JW as you cant do anything else the way things have gone on so far.

If you saw how much Brunt ran last Sat at Oxford then you wouldn't begrudge him two days off!
However .... in answer to your question .... I'll tell you next Sunday!
