I think it will be a good thing and even if some people might say they dont deserve the break i believe that it will be good for bonding and genuinely believe the team have done well up to now. Discuss
Agree Zeller. Change as good as a rest and all that. Plus a week in the sunshine is beneficial for health anyway.
Getting away from everything can only be a good thing. There's been plenty banging on about "they don't deserve it" but that's a pretty simplistic way of putting it. They aren't children, they hasn't brought home a duff report card. They need time away to discuss what to do. Contrary to popular belief, the fulham game wasn't the worst game of the season. That was Newcastle by quite some way (both teams to blame) You can tell me we aren't far away. The goals are coming.
Completely agree with this. I don't thik we are far away at all and I also think that a lot of our problems are linked to fatigue as CH tends not to make too many changes week on week and a short break in the sun will do the team some good. It will also give the new lads some time to bond with the group so I don't see a downside.
But the money spent could have been better used on Van Winkelsburger's wages.... Oops, silly me, wrong thread
Must say I'm sceptical of the value of these breaks. Last year, if I remember aright, they went off to Spain and for several games afterwards looked as if they didn't know one another (so much for bonding). There were also rumours of a bust up (Holt appeared on the bench next game with a black eye) and things didn't really improve until the final run in. That's how I remember it anyway. I don't begrudge them the trip at all; my doubts are about whether it translates into immediate improvement on the pitch.
Having said that (my previous post), given what McNally has tweeted about the Colney pitches, and what Chris Hughton said about how restricted they'd been because of the effect of the weather on training, I can definitely see some logic in flying somewhere where good weather is guaranteed!
If it's true about a trip abroad being followed by a loss, seeing as Reading,QPR, Wet Sham and Swansea are out there as well, we won't lose much ground!
Sounds like a good idea to me, especially with the weather we've had recently and as has been said, it will give the January signings a chance to get to know their teammates better.
At least they won't be able to get their hands on a 'dentists chair' out there, Abu Dhabi is hardly the place for a boozy piss up. A good idea if you ask me, although recent form hasn't been brilliant they definitely deserve a treat for how well they've done so far this season. 14th place with daylight between us and the bottom three - well done lads, have a bit of sunshine to recharge the batteries on us
I agree that the Fulham game wasn't the worst of the season, or of our recent dip in form, though for me it was the koo pee arr game that was the worst, it was absolutely atrocious with the ball bouncing around in the midfield for the most part. I wasn't at the Newcastle game but watched online and agree it was awful as well, I thought Fulham was slightly better than both of those, though obviously still lot of improvement needed before the goals start flying in.
are some of our fans seriously suggesting the team shouldn't got to dubai because they 'don't deserve to'? if so, these are not intelligent people! they have gone to work in warmer climes, not go on bloody holiday. it should reinvigorate them.
TYpical MUPPETS - https://twitter.com/Keyzy007/statuses/301260368976699392 They think the team's off for a holiday!!!!
Hmm, I really hope it does some good. However, it's bloody freezing here and it will be bloody freezing when they get back. What will probably happen is that because of the drastic changes in temperature, they will all get stinking colds and we'll have to put a reserve side out against Everton !
Nothing like a worse case scenario eh? I guess someone could have suggested that the plane might crash - actually someone probably already has on twitter. (Edit: I saw your smiley face K-I-O, that wasn't a dig at you )
