Not pointing the finger but there seem to e a certain element of our crowd that are accepting we are in a relegation battle and some that seem to WANT relegation. Partly to be proved right in their negative assumptions and partly because they'd rather have the safer environment of the championship than slug it in the top league. So my question is, why do many cowards? Because that's what they are. Cowards. Surely after coming through near financial collapse and the ruin and eventual good of the last few years there must be some that has a backbone left. My issue isn't with these people having an opinion, I just wish I could brand them somehow for when we turn te corner. Know what I mean? Time to man up NCFC fans.
I'm not a coward and I do not think we will be relegated, but I would like see our team play with less fear and score some goals. Sometimes it feels like our players are scared to play due to the financial importance of being in the PL. I do not want us to go down or encourage it, but I do miss some of the performances that we had in the Championship. Don't want to go back there though.
We expect out players to be fearless on the pitch but there are Norwich fans out there after the weekend that you seriously wouldn't want in the trenches with you. Flaky as hell.
OK - how about this - head over the parapit time: We will stay up this season We will clear all of our external debt this year We will get access to the Sky pot of gold for at least three more seasons We will have no problems with the financial fair play rules We have a tier 1 academy which will help secure the future playing strength of the club We will be in a position to strengthen our squad next season to consolidate our premiership status We will be able to increase the capacity of Carrow Road in the medium term to help us compete at a higher level The future is bright - the future is yellow and green. If you don't think this is the case try wearing Blue and wistfully recalling the 1970's and 80's
No cowardice here Captain Beefy. It's a needs vs wants situation. We want to see free flowing, attractive football with thrills, excitement and lots of goals but we need to stay in the Premiership and that need outweighs the wants everytime and that's what is dictating our performances.
dissapointing to hear that there are numerous people in the stadium who are not 100% behind the team. surely that is all you can ask for, win, lose or draw?
Actually, as far as I am concerned I have never watched a game we have won and thought 'that was boring.' I don't give a **** how we get results so long as we do, and if that means hoofing the ball upfield all game, defending with 10 men behind the ball at home to a mediocre team or getting 7 yellow cards every match so be it. In Hughton We Trust
I am a Norwich City fan till I die! I love the game of football, all levels of it, I can't walk past a kids' match in the park without stopping to watch! I want my team to play at the highest level, I would also like to see them playing attractive football, we know they can with the players we have at the moment, the problem is the fear factor when we play teams around us in the table! If we played the way we do against the top teams we would be fine, but the desperation to get hold of that money next season is putting the frightners on players and management alike, we just need to hold our nerve!
Interesting on Canary Call recently (yes, I am a masochist), some regular supporters have the view that NCFC have a duty to entertain the fans. Almost to the extent that it's seen as a seperate issue to match results. Discuss...?
That's what I am eluding to DM - needs must at all times and despite being bored rigid I was much happier going home after the snore-draws against the Nukes and Fulham than I was after the entertaining but ultimately pointless game against Citeh. OTBC !
beefy, i don't say this lightly when teling you that this is the best thread for ages. i salute you. i've said for a while that a section of our fan base is the only negative thing about our football club and unfortunately they seem to be getting worse. its even getting bad on here, hence i've stayed clear of the site for a while (amongst far more important things than football).
Lieutenant David of the Weston corps said basically what I was going to say. I just find it so worrying/alarming that ostensibly the same squad of players who swept all (well, most) before them in October and November in a 10 game unbeaten run now seem to find it difficult to string 3 decent forward passes together, never mind 3 decent results. None of the 'enemy' have strengthened that significantly, so it's impossibly difficult to explain this very worrying drop in form/goalscoring. That's why there are squeaky bums and clammy palms in North Norfolk - and there will continue to be until we arrest this goalless, winless streak No search party required, I have no intention of deserting
Maybe kind of, but I alluding specifically to the fact, that say the Stoke game last season or Fullham last weekend - if we won the games with a goal deflected of Russell Martin's backside then they wouldn't have been boring because we would have won. Watching Norwich win a game and finding it boring are mutually exclusive to me!
I can't see how a few people should make any difference to you Beefy. I for one wonder why you go on the QPR board just to wind them up. But I wouldn't call you anything but a City fan and your contributions on her are as valid as anybodys. You don't have to brand anybody. You either ignore them or try to convince them. I will state here and now that it won't bother me too much if relegation happens. There will still be a club next season. They will still be playing at Carrow Road. They won't be in administration and if they win enough games they will come straight back. And if they don't they will stay where they are and there will still be more games to watch. And just like than fans of Yeovil and Rochdale and Crewe, people will still turn up and want to be entertained. Of course it helps if your team wins, Saturday nights pint tastes a lot better. But it is merely a football match and as such should be there to impress and entertain. To me, winning is important but not at any price. And if you are happy to continue to watch the dire brand of football we are serving up then that is fine. But because other people don't and react in vocal or opinionated ways other than acceptance, that doesn't make them wrong, not men, or even cowards.
As I have stated on a previous thread, if we were playing ****e football and winning I wouldn't give a flying fcuk. But we're not, we're playing ****e football and drawing at best, that is the problem
I'm firmly in the 'get the job done at any cost' brigade. I know some of the last few games haven't been great, but a lot of that has been the negativity of the opposing sides. Also, and I think it has been mentioned is the players' confidence. Being on a ten game winless runs must have an effect on the players. They play it 'safe' instead of 'going for it'. I think one good performance and three points, hopefully against Everton, and I think you'll see a lot more positive performances. Just my opinion.
I think some people forget the run under PL last year when City lost 8 out of 12 games between February and April, scoring 11 goals and conceding 24. The only wins were against Wolves at home and the surprise win against Spurs away. Life in the top league is always going to be tough, it always has been (I go back to 1972). With both Holt and Pilks out, Fulham was always going to be tough. !5 shots, 8 of which were on target is not a poor performance, IMO. Those wanting 'entertaining football, even if it means relegation, should take a look at where last years relegated teams are now. It's about survival and money to bring in quality players. Meanwhile, I'm willing to see City slog it out to stay clear of the bottom 3, which I think they will do. That will be exciting enough for me! OTBC!
